Liverpool join Man Utd and Arsenal in Moises Caicedo race, as Brighton stance on sale emerges

Liverpool are preparing to rival Manchester United and Arsenal for the signing of Brighton’s Moises Caicedo, according to a report.

Manchester United had the chance to capture Caicedo in January 2021 but didn’t take it. Instead, the central midfielder went on to join Brighton in a £4.5million deal.

After a loan spell in Belgium, Caicedo is now in the Brighton team. And he has got United back for their transfer decision with two top performances against them this year.

In May, Caicedo got his first Premier League goal in a shock 4-0 win for Brighton over United at the Amex.

And in Brighton’s first match of the new campaign, he put on a great display as the Seagulls went to Old Trafford and won 2-1.

Caicedo is only 20 years old but is showing he has the ability to compete against some of the best midfielders in the league. And he will only get better, too.

On August 14, the Daily Express revealed Arsenal are keeping tabs on Caicedo’s development and could move for him. United are also planning to swoop in for the Ecuador international to solve their midfield problem.

The list of interested clubs is only growing. 90Min provide an update and reveal Liverpool would like to capture Caicedo too.

Making up the list of potential suitors are Chelsea, Barcelona, Juventus and Atletico Madrid.

Jurgen Klopp says Liverpool will not be bringing in a new midfielder this summer. That’s despite injuries affecting Jordan Henderson, Thiago, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Curtis Jones.

Taking Caicedo to Anfield would give Klopp an extra option in the centre of the pitch, ready for a busy campaign. But it seems the Reds will wait until next summer before submitting an offer.

90Min also reveal Brighton’s stance on selling Caicedo. They know they have a gem on their hands and are not wanting him to go.

According to 90Min sources, there is ‘no chance’ he will be moving on during the current transfer window.

A move could take place in the future, though Liverpool, Arsenal or United would have to spend big.

Caicedo’s value is rising rapidly and this will continue as long as he puts on more great performances in the Prem. Brighton have shown they are a selling club by agreeing exits for Marc Cucurella and Ben White. However, they cost £60m and £50m respectively, which demonstrates what Caicedo’s price tag may be.

Moving to Arsenal or Liverpool is probably Caicedo’s best bet. Those two teams have shown they are able to develop young players.

United, in contrast, have failed to improve many of their players in recent years. Just look at Jadon Sancho, who was in great form with Borussia Dortmund but is now low on confidence at Old Trafford.
