Liverpool exit edges closer as club plots transfer talks to resolve £12m deal

The exit of Neco Williams from Liverpool is gathering pace, as one journalist claims Fulham are preparing to enter negotiations for the 20-year-old.
Williams is a product of the Liverpool academy. He made his first-team debut in October 2019 and has gone on to make 32 appearances in all competitions since then.
The right-back appeared eight times for the Reds in the first half of the campaign. He faces an incredibly tough task to dislodge Trent Alexander-Arnold in the starting eleven.
As a result, Williams opted to spend the rest of the season on loan at promotion-chasing Fulham.
His record for the Cottagers stands at two goals and two assists in nine Championship matches so far.
The Wales international is clearly impressing at Craven Cottage as sources suggest Fulham want to make the deal permanent.
According to a recent report from Football Insider, it would take a £12million bid for Fulham to sign Williams.
They claim the player is keen to make the switch as it would give him the chance to become a regular starter. The fact Fulham are aiming for promotion helps his attraction to the club, too.
Fulham plot Neco Williams talks
Transfer journalist Ekrem Konur provides an update on the potential summer deal. He claims Marco Silva’s team are on the verge of beginning transfer talks with Liverpool.
They will likely attempt to bring the Reds down from their £12m asking price. In response, Liverpool may point to Williams’ impressive displays in the second tier.
Fulham and Liverpool have previous when it comes to transfers. Harvey Elliott made three appearances for the Cottagers before securing a dream move to Anfield in July 2019.
The deal caused some controversy, and the two clubs went to a tribunal to resolve issues surrounding a fee. Liverpool must pay £4.3m to Fulham if Elliott plays more than 100 games for them.
Liverpool and Fulham are also negotiating a summer transfer for Fabio Carvalho. They want to avoid a tribunal this time around, with Jurgen Klopp’s side willing to pay £8m for the attacking midfielder.
