New favourites revealed for Liverpool target as second suitor opens talks

Mohamed Camara and Karim Adeyemi celebrate for RB Salzburg

Borussia Dortmund are in “pole position” to beat Liverpool to the signing of a striker target who is also ready for talks with Paris Saint-Germain, according to reports.

Liverpool are on the lookout for a striker who can lead their attack into a new era. Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino all remain top talents, but are all going to be 30 years old by the start of next season.

An evolution over time may be required to protect the long-term future of the Reds’ frontline. The signing of Diogo Jota last summer showed the impact a new addition can have and another one may follow in 2022.

Liverpool have been looking at Karim Adeyemi, who has enjoyed a fine start to the season in Austria with RB Salzburg. The 19-year-old has 14 goals to his name from his first 20 appearances of the current campaign.

He also made his senior debut for Germany in September and marked the occasion with an international goal. Ever since, speculation has been intense about him returning to a club in his homeland.

Adeyemi previously came through the youth ranks at Bayern Munich. They have been tipped to take him back in a move that would interest him so he can prove a point.

But there are a number of other rivals for his signature. RB Leipzig could take him across the Red Bull network, while Borussia Dortmund are also keen to sign him.

In fact, according to Sport1, Dortmund are currently the favourites to sign Adeyemi. They have even gone to the lengths of holding talks with his agent. On offer for Adeyemi would be a salary worth more than €3m per season.

However, the report reminds that Liverpool are one of the other suitors in the race for the forward. Therefore, there is still a chance for them to sign him if they can hurry up. Doing so would set them back around €35m in terms of a transfer fee.

The other contenders for Adeyemi’s signature are Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain.

PSG step up Karim Adeyemi pursuit

Reports elsewhere indicate that the latter are ready to begin negotiations of their own for Adeyemi.

Karim Adeyemi is on PSG's radar as potential Kylian Mbappe replacement

PSG are set to rival Liverpool for the signing of RB Salzberg wondered Karim Adeyemi, with updates on Raphinha and Youri Tielemans.

According to Sky Sport in Germany, Adeyemi’s father has also held talks with Bayern Munich – but the Bundesliga champions have also learned that Dortmund and PSG are the leading contenders to sign him.

PSG are now set to hold their own talks with Adeyemi’s camp. They may view him as someone who can help shape a new era of their own if Kylian Mbappe leaves as a free agent in 2022.

Adeyemi could therefore take his place in between Neymar and Lionel Messi in the Parc Des Princes attack.

Quickly establishing himself as one of Europe’s most promising forwards, it seems he will have the pick of the continent’s elite when it comes to choosing his next club.

Wherever he ends up, a transfer away from Salzburg into a traditionally bigger league seems likely for him in the New Year, despite his contract lasting until 2024.
