‘On a different planet’ – Thierry Henry picks three players who can make Liverpool ‘unstoppable’

Thierry Henry has hailed Liverpool FC for their incredible display in beating Everton 4-1 – and thinks Jurgen Klopp’s side can only get better thanks to three players.

Liverpool earned a convincing win over their neighbours thanks to a brace from Mohamed Salah in between goals from Jordan Henderson and Diogo Jota. It saw them set a record for the longest streak of games in which an English side has scored two or more goals.

In more immediate focus, it increased the pressure on ex-Reds boss Rafael Benitez in the Everton hotseat.

After the match, Benitez highlighted how much money Liverpool had spent, which didn’t seem to wash well.

From their own perspective, though, it was a night to celebrate for Liverpool. They are two points behind league leaders Chelsea and one behind second-placed Manchester City as the title battle gathers momentum.

The title race will be a marathon, though. Games will come one at a time and this one went particularly well for the Reds. In fact, Liverpool played better than any of their previous visits to Goodison Park under Jurgen Klopp, according to the man himself.

One man who was especially impressed was legendary French star Henry. The World Cup winner – part of Arsenal’s Invincibles side – reckons Liverpool FC are incredible to watch.

“They are amazing, the rhythm they are giving to the league. Both Liverpool and the other top two,” he told Amazon Prime.

“They [Everton] were in the game at 2-1 and everyone thought they could do something.

“But when they gave that gift – unfortunately for the captain [Seamus] Coleman – everything went south.

Four-goal Liverpool FC hailed

“Liverpool are on a different planet right now. Four against Southampton, four against Arsenal, four again tonight. Whoever they are playing, be ready, they are putting four on the board!

Jurgen Klopp pressing to secure a January deal for Porto's Luis Diaz

Jurgen Klopp has reportedly given his approval for Liverpool to press with their attempts to sign Porto winger Luis Diaz, with more news on Ousmane Dembele, Adama Traore and Christian Pulisic.

“The intensity that they have, on and off the ball, still putting on pressure at the end of the game, still trying to play with the same intensity. Amazing.”

Although Salah grabbed the headlines with two more fantastic finishes, Henry reckons the game was won in midfield.

Their midfield trio of Thiago, Fabinho and Jordan Henderson were excellent. As such, Henry believes they can make Liverpool FC unstoppable.

“The scary thing about that Liverpool side is that Fabinho, Thiago and Henderson have played just three times together.

“If they start to really click and understand each other I don’t know how you’re going to stop them.”

Salah laughs off Ballon d’Or seventh

His fellow pundit Steve McManaman says he expected Everton to lose before hand and reckons the Toffees will have seen the scoreline coming.

“Even the most argent Everton fan knew there was a gulf tonight. You talk about desire, intensity and aggression to try and even the game up,” he said.

“Liverpool came into this game in great, Everton weren’t. Now sitting here looking at the 4-1, it’s kind of what you would have expected.”

After the game, Salah was asked about finishing seventh in the Ballon d’Or, to which he let out a great laugh.

“I’m saying nothing,” he said.

When asked if he might finish higher next season, he simply added: “You never know.”

Henry, reflecting on Salah’s reaction, continued: “He’s letting his football do the talking.”
