Aubameyang plays role in Liverpool transfer chase as verdict given on summer move

Barcelona forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has provided his opinion on whether Ousmane Dembele should leave Catalonia this summer, with Liverpool hoping to sign the Frenchman.
Dembele is yet to pen a new deal with Barcelona, meaning he is free to sort out terms with other clubs. It would be a costly exit for the Spanish giants as they paid Dortmund over £130million for him in August 2017.
According to Mundo Deportivo reporter Xavier Bosch, Liverpool are battling Paris Saint-Germain to complete the impressive free transfer.
A move to PSG would take Dembele close to his hometown of Vernon. However, linking up with Jurgen Klopp at Anfield could be his best option.
Dembele struggled to make an impact during his first four seasons with Barcelona. However, after returning from knee and hamstring injuries, the winger is enjoying a purple patch.
In the last eight La Liga matches, he has registered one goal and nine assists. That form has seen Barca win seven games on the bounce.
Aubameyang joins Ferran Torres in discussing move
Last week, Ferran Torres spoke about Dembele’s potential exit. “I would kidnap him in Barcelona! It’s a good club, one of the best in the world.
“But there are things that are none of our business. It’s his decision. Whatever he decides, I wish him all the best.”
On Sunday, Dembele set up Aubameyang for Barca’s first goal in their 3-2 away win over Levante. After the match, Aubameyang gave his verdict on the 24-year-old’s future.
“Dembele should stay!” the former Arsenal captain said (via Barcelona Universal). “Ousmane knows me well, I have to be prepared when he goes down the right.”
Xavi’s side could come up against Premier League competition in their bid to win this season’s Europa League. Both Barca and West Ham have made it to the last eight.
Barca host Eintracht Frankfurt at the Nou Camp on Thursday, with the tie at 1-1 after the first leg in Germany.
West Ham, meanwhile, travel to Lyon later this week. Their tie is also level at 1-1 after goals from Jarrod Bowen and Tanguy Ndombele at the London Stadium.
