Potential big Liverpool offer for ‘huge talent’ confirmed by defender’s agent with clear plan revealed

The agent of Lecce defender Patrick Dorgu has confirmed Liverpool are interested in the teenager, before revealing the advice he is going to share with him.

Earlier this week, reports suggested Dorgu has emerged onto Liverpool’s radar. A left-back, he is still playing at under-19 level for Lecce (the highest age bracket in Italian youth football).

It has been claimed that Liverpool scouts have watched Dorgu on several occasions. Soon, a bid could be on its way to Lecce, who recently extended his contract until 2027.

Now, Kingsley Ogbodo, who acts as Dorgu’s agent, has confirmed Liverpool have a long-held interest in the full-back.

Speaking to Bold in Dorgu’s native Denmark, though, Ogbodo recommended that the 18-year-old should reject any lucrative Liverpool offer for now.

“Liverpool want him,” Dorgu’s agent confirmed. “Liverpool have been watching him and interested in him for some time, but if he goes there he will have to play in the U23 team.

“It’s not the best for him, so I advise him not to do it. They can offer him a lot of money, but that’s not what we’re looking for right now. We focus on his career, development and playing time.

“Liverpool is of course not the only club that wants him. There are many clubs here in England who are keeping an eye on him.

Manchester City kept an eye on him when he played against England for the U19 national team in Hobro in Denmark.

“Lecce’s scout has also told me that Barcelona is also keeping an eye on Patrick, because he is a huge talent.”

Liverpool target Dorgu could move in 2025

Clearly, there are high hopes for Dorgu’s career. Before he progresses at senior level and his value escalates, Liverpool might want to get him while they can.

However, Ogbodo has reiterated that the plan is for Dorgu to spend two more years with Lecce.

“We would like him to stay in Lecce a little longer,” Ogbodo continued. “Two more seasons so he can mature and gain experience.

“So when he moves on to a bigger club in a few seasons, we will know at that time that he is ready for it.”

In the next two years, Dorgu might be aiming to make his senior debut for Lecce, who finished 16th in Serie A this season.

By 2025, Liverpool’s current starting left-back, Andy Robertson, will be in his 30s and have just one year remaining on his contract. His deputy, Kostas Tsimikas, is due to reach the end of his own contract at Anfield that year.
