Real Madrid have identified three other options if they don’t manage to sign Jude Bellingham in the next summer transfer window.
The Spanish champions have been admirers of Bellingham for some time now, although they accept that they are not alone in their interest.
Bellingham put in a starring performance in England’s 6-2 win over Iran and his price tag is only expected to increase.
Real Madrid have done well to refresh the core of their midfield over the past few seasons. Casemiro recently moved on to make way for Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni.
At 37-years-old Luka Modric is still going strong as is Toni Kroos at 32. When you then add Federico Valverde to the mix, Madrid’s midfield is looking stacked.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side are still keen on adding to their current options and Bellingham has been identified as a primary target.
As several clubs battle it out for Bellingham’s signature, Real Madrid have identified three potential alternatives.
Youri Tielemans on Madrid radar
Long-term Arsenal and Liverpool target Youri Tielemans has been identified as a cost-effective alternative to Bellingham.
The future of the Leicester City midfielder has been up in the air for quite some time now. His contract expires at the end of the season and so he will be available on a free transfer.
A report from Spain has claimed that Tielemans has been identified as a target for Real Madrid. The report explains that he would be seen as a ‘low cost’ alternative for Ancelotti’s side.
Arsenal and Liverpool will have to intensify their negotiations if they are serious about persuing a move for the Belgian midfielder.
Tielemans has been an ever-present member of the Leicester side since joining in 2019. This season he has featured in all 15 of Leicester’s Premier League matches.
He has scored three goals during this campaign and Leicester will be hard-pressed to replace him.
Real Madrid have other targets
Along with Tielemans, Madrid have also identified Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Enzo Fernandez as alternative options to Bellingham.
Fernandez is currently at the World Cup with Argentina and is also a target of Liverpool. The 21-year-old has been a star for Benfica this season and is only expected to get better.
The Argentine midfielder is excellent at penetrative passes from deep areas on the pitch. He has five goal contributions to his name so far this season.
Milinkovic-Savic of Lazio has also been identified by Madrid as a potential target ahead of next summer.
The 27-year-old has been in fine form for Lazio this season and is a different type of midfielder to the likes of Fernandez and Tielemans.
The Serbian midfielder has 10 goal contributions in Serie A this season with three goals and seven assists.
Time will tell on which player Madrid do decide to pursue this summer if they cannot strike a deal for Bellingham.
