Liverpool willing to turn back on yet another Reds midfielder wanted in Saudi; Klopp has lost faith in star for two reasons

Liverpool are reportedly bracing themselves for yet another approach from Saudi Arabia for one of their big-name midfielders – and it’s claimed that Jurgen Klopp is once again willing to sanction a sale if the price is right.

The Merseysiders are embarking on a midfield revolution far beyond all expectations this summer. Before the curtain came down on the 2022/23 season, it was confirmed James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain would depart. They were soon joined out the exit door by Arthur Melo. The Brazilian returned to Juventus after failing to make an impression.

Looking to redress the balance, Klopp quickly sealed a bargain £35m deal for Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister. And the active Reds soon followed up with a deal to bring in Hungarian playmaker Dominik Szoboszlai for £60m.

In addition, Liverpool also want to bring in a new No 6. To that end, Romeo Lavia has emerged as their top target despite Southampton’s prohibitive £50m valuation.

In recent days, however, the Merseyside transfer merry-go-round has gathered new momentum. Fabinho has been left out of their pre-season training camp in Germany amid £40m interest from Al-Ittihad.

More surprisingly, Jordan Henderson is also wanted in the Gulf State too. Steven Gerrard’s Al Ettifaq have reportedly convinced the 33-year-old skipper to quit Anfield. Claims of an outrageous £700,000 a week package have undoubtedly played a part.

As a result, a report on Tuesday evening suggested Liverpool will look to sign three more midfielders this summer with five names on their wanted list.

Incredibly, though, despite Henderson and Fabinho potentially taking the list of midfield exits at Anfield to six, a seventh Reds midfielder is now being linked with a move away.

Liverpool not ruling out Thiago Alcantara sale

And according to Football Insider, there is more interest emerging from Saudi for Thiago Alcantara.

The Spanish midfielder suffered a dip in quality last season as the Reds struggled in the engine room. Making just 18 Premier League appearances, the 2022/23 campaign was easily his least-effective since arriving from Bayern Munich in 2020.

To that end, reports earlier this month suggested Thiago was the subject of a ‘very good offer’ from Galatasaray and that the player ‘no longer had the trust of Klopp’.

And while that move failed to get off the ground, Thiago does now have solid interest in his services from an unnamed Saudi side.

Indeed, with the riches on offer in the Middle East, Thiago would reportedly find an approach hard to resist.

Furthermore, and perhaps more damaging, it’s claimed Klopp is willing to sanction his sale. Citing well-placed sources, it’s claimed that, due to Thiago’s age and injury record, Liverpool are receptive to his exit.

And with his deal due to expire in just 12 months time, Klopp actually views his exit as more favourable to Henderson.

Nonetheless, both players – Fabinho also – could depart Merseyside in the coming weeks.

Thiago has made a total of 97 appearances over three seasons for Liverpool, scoring three times.
