Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich ‘definitely possible’, as report names Liverpool fee and Kylian Mbappe role

Liverpool winger Sadio Mane is back on the table for Bayern Munich after fresh movement in his contract talks, according to a report.

The Senegal star is entering the final year of his Anfield deal and it still remains unclear if he will renew. Reds chiefs parked negotiations with the player and his agent until the end of the season.

Just like Mohamed Salah, Mane’s future is up in the air despite him finding a new lease of life this season.

German champions Bayern have had strong links with a swoop for Mane in recent weeks. Indeed, they are trying to pounce on the uncertainty over the 30-year-old.

Liverpool are reportedly in no rush to hold talks with Mane. According to Sky Germany, though, the Africa Cup of Nations star can ‘imagine’ moving to Bayern.

What’s more, journalist Florian Plettenberg, who has pushed this transfer link along in recent weeks, has claimed movement in Mane’s situation.

“FC Bayern is a serious option for Sadio Mane to change this summer. This transfer is definitely possible,” Plettenberg said.

“We hear that there has been movement in the last few days. There is a clear development to be seen, also in the discussions between his management and also with the player.”

With only one year left on his deal, Liverpool do not have as much negotiating power as they previously had over Mane.

Plettenberg therefore adds that Mane’s fee “is below the €50million [£43million] mark”.

The journalist furthermore claims that Bayern have been boosted by the recent developments over Kylian Mbappe.

The Paris Saint-Germain striker rejected a move to Real Madrid to sign a mammoth new deal in the French capital. PSG had Mane on their radar but now accept they cannot afford both players.

As such, Plettenberg concludes that “the next three to four weeks” will be “very, very crucial” for Mane.

Mane needs to stay at Liverpool

Mane has proven a fantastic acquisition by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp ever since his 2016 arrival.

He started out on the right wing, subsequently moving to the left once Salah arrived in 2017.

Now that Luis Diaz has stamped his mark on the left-wing role, though, Mane has moved into the centre.

And he has flourished in his new-found role, heightening calls for a new contract to reward him.

While he would undoubtedly perform well at Bayern, the Senegal star has shown that he can continue to improve and adapt at Liverpool, despite significant changes around him.
