The role of Sadio Mane should he transfer to Bayern Munich has been revealed amid reports of Julian Nagelsmann’s eagerness to sign the star.
Mane has been one of Liverpool’s most crucial assets for years. Indeed, the forward has never failed to surpass 10 goals in a season with the Reds and has stormed through the 20-goal mark on four occasions.
His best goals haul in a campaign was 26 in the 2018/19 season. Of those 26 goals, 22 came in the Premier League as Mane shared the golden boot.
As well as personal honours, the forward has enjoyed great team success during his time at Anfield. He has won the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup with Liverpool.
After a very successful six seasons on Merseyside, Mane has been linked with a move away this term. Following Liverpool’s loss in the Champions League final, it was revealed that he has ‘decided to leave’, though Mane himself is yet to confirm that.
Bayern Munich have been one of the main sides linked with the star. Furthermore, it appears they are currently the frontrunners to snare him.
Journalist Florian Plettenburg has confirmed that Mane has been ‘on the list’ of Bayern coach Nagelsmann ‘from day one’.
With that being said, it is likely that Bayern will do their all to land Mane. Though Liverpool won’t make it easy with the Athletic claiming they’ll demand £42.5m.

Potential Sadio Mane role at Bayern revealed
Plettenburg also revealed the role Nagelsmann would like Mane to fill at Bayern. The coach reportedly ‘sees him as a [number] 9 – or behind’.
While Mane has played the majority of his career as a winger, he has shown his tallooked at home in the new position.
With Robert Lewandowski potentially leaving Bayern this season, the German side will want to line up an elite replacement.
A good deal of Mane’s 23 goals this season came in games where he occupied a central position. Should he move to Bayern and be utilised as a striker, it seems they will be in safe hands.
