Liverpool issue rapid response to Bayern Munich over cheeky opening Sadio Mane bid as new suitor enters running

Liverpool have wasted little time in reacting to Bayern Munich’s lowball opening offer Sadio Mane, according to a respected source.

The Reds forward is the subject of intense speculation over his future this summer. With a year left on his deal, Liverpool have seemingly taken their eyes off the ball over his future. Distracted perhaps by the same situation Mohamed Salah finds himself in, Liverpool have seemingly put all their efforts into tying down the Egyptian.

Meanwhile, Mane has quietly gone about his business on the field, enjoying one of his best seasons for the Reds.

And now with 12 months left on his deal, Mane has aired comments about suggesting the time is right to move on. Claiming he will ‘do what the people of Senegal want him to do’, Liverpool seemingly have very strong reasons to fear.

Thankfully, Mane has since backtracked on those words and offered a veiled apology in the process.

Nonetheless, failure to sign a contract extension will leave Liverpool with little choice but to listen to offers.

That has seen him strongly linked with Bayern Munich with the Bundesliga side sniffing out a bargain deal.

Now, according to The Times, the Germans have launched an opening offer for Mane.

As per the paper, Bayern have forwaded a offer worth an initial £21m, with a further £4m in add-ons.

That is significantly lower than Liverpool’s valuation for the 30-year-old. And while they are yet to put an official value on his head, they reportedly value Mane at around £45m.

As such, the report claims Liverpool issued an immediate rejection to Bayern’s proposal.

However, despite seeing their offer declined, Bayern remain undeterred and are seemingly set to try again for the forward.

Sadio Mane transfer to Bayern looks likely

Sadly for Liverpool, a parting of ways does look increasingly likely this summer.

The striker has won all there is to be won while at Anfield, proving one of their best signings of the 21st century. But after six seasons on Merseyside, Mane has made it clear that he wants one last career challenge.

And if he sticks to his guns and makes it clear he wants out, Liverpool will have no choice but to sell this summer.

That news will deflate the likes of Jamie Carragher, who has made clear exactly why Mane must stay at Anfield.

Ultimately, though, this looks like the beginning of the end for Mane and Liverpool.

More alarmingly, the Daily Mail claims another suitor, PSG, are also keeping tabs on his situation and may yet launch a rival offer of their own.

Liverpool are seemingly preparing for his exit too. TEAMtalk has been told why Robert Lewandowski is a strong option for Jurgen Klopp.

Meanwhile, they are also being linked with a move for Leeds’ Raphinha.

The Brazilian enjoyed an excellent season and is the subject of intense speculation linking him with Barcelona.

However, their financial issues may yet let in Liverpool to pounce. And the Reds could sweeten the deal by allowing a Leeds target to move the other way as part of the deal.
