Liverpool’s determination to hold out for their Sadio Mane transfer price appears to have paid off with a third Bayern Munich offer reportedly set to be accepted.
The Senegal forward has been a massive part of Liverpool’s success over the Jurgen Klopp era. Arriving in a £34m deal in summer 2016, he has scored 120 goals in 269 appearances over his six seasons at Anfield. Not only that, Mane is also a tireless worker and won everything there is to be won while on Merseyside.
However, a parting of ways now looks inevitable this summer with the player keen to experience one final career challenge. Indeed, a strongly-worded interview at the start of the month first laid the groundwork over his potential exit.
And with Bayern Munich also making clear their desire to land the player, an Anfield goodbye for Mane appears certain.
With just a year left on his deal, Liverpool are not standing in his way over his sale. Indeed, the Reds are quickly moving on themselves with a club-record deal for Darwin Nunez all-but officially announced.
Although his contract expires in a year, Liverpool are seeking around £40m for the 30-year-old.
Since then, Bayern have made two bids for the player. Their opening gambit did not exactly go down well, with it falling well short of Liverpool’s asking price.
Days later, a second bid arrived, though the Reds once again rejected it amid claims they found the offer comical.
Now it seems Liverpool’s no-nonsense approach over his asking price is about to bear fruit.
Having secured Ryan Gravenberch from Ajax, Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic is now putting all his focus on Mane.
Sadio Mane transfer: third offer incoming from Bayern Munich
As per Bild, the Bavarians are not readying a third approach for Mane. This will include a downpayment of £30.2m (€35m), with a further £5.1m (€6m) in add-ons. That will take Bayern’s investment to £35.3m – earning Liverpool a small profit on their initial investment all those years ago.
The offer has been approved by Bayern’s money men with the club then turning their focus to the signing of Konrad Laimer.
Following that, Bayern then expect to finalise a number of potential sales, with Marc Roca to Leeds among them.
Bild now expects the offer for Mane to ‘quickly’ win approval among Liverpool’s board. Their owners FSG were always adamant about Mane’s valuation and it seems their determination has pay off.
Thiago offers Sadio Mane his house in Munich ahead of Bayern move
Liverpool midfielder Thiago has offered Sadio Mane his house in Munich if the winger moves to Bayern Munich this summer.
Mane has already reportedly agreed terms on a three-year deal with Bayern. Now a quick resolution to the saga is likely.
The Sadio Mane transfer to Bayern will see him depart Liverpool FC as a hero.
He will now move to the Allianz Arena and a Bayern Munich side likely to lose talismanic striker Robert Lewandowski. As such, Mane could revert to the central attacking role he fulfiled with such aplomb for Liverpool over the closing weeks of the season.
