Liverpool transfers: Sky Sports reporter drops bombshell news that Klopp favourite is up for sale; Reds to sell if ‘suitable offer’ arrives

Liverpool are ready to allow another big-name midfielder to move on this summer with Jurgen Klopp willing to sell Thiago Alcantara if a “suitable offer” arrives.
The Merseysiders endured a bleak 2022/23 campaign, finishing outside the UCL places in fifth. And after also crashing out early in all three cup competitions, it was clear a big rethink was needed on Merseyside this summer.
As a result, it was pretty apparent to all who watched Liverpool that major changes would be needed in midfield. And with veteran star James Milner leading the exodus, he has been joined in leaving by Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and loanee Arthur Melo.
Addressing those departures, Klopp has quickly acted to bring in both Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai. The pair have cost a combined £95m. However, the Reds are far from done and want at least one more midfield addition this summer.
To that end, reports on Tuesday claimed an opening offer for Southampton’s Romeo Lavia is in the works. And while their opening bid was likely to fall short of Southampton’s asking price, there is a confidence that the teenager will be the next man through the door at Anfield.
Indeed, it is very much a case of out with the old, in with the new at Anfield this summer.
And as part of Liverpool’s midfield evolution, speculation has mounted that Spanish star Thiago Alcantara could also soon be on his way.
As a result, the 32-year-old star has found himself linked with clubs in both Saudi Arabia and Turkey in recent weeks.
Thiago, signed from Bayern Munich for £20m in September 2020, has just a year left of his deal at Anfield.

Liverpool will sell Thiago Alcantara this summer
And, after seeing his form dip during the last 12 months, it’s suggested Klopp feels the time is right to let Thiago move on.
Now rumours over the player’s future have been cleared up by Sky Sports reporter Melissa Reddy.
And she stated, in a video that has since been pulled, that Liverpool will listen to offers for the star.
She stated: “Thiago, who’s entered the final year of his deal – he’s been attracting offers. And if a suitable proposal does reach Liverpool and the midfielder wants to move on, he will be allowed to.”
Thiago made just 28 appearances last season. That tally included just 18 in the Premier League, with the player suffering with injuries and a loss of form.
Overall, he’s appeared for Liverpool on 97 occasions, scoring three times.
Thiago has won the EFL Cup and the FA Cup during his time at Anfield. The 46-times capped midfielder was also part of the side beaten 1-0 by Real Madrid in the 2022 UCL final.
Regardless of Thiago’s fate, Reddy confirms Liverpool do plan another midfield signing of their own.
Speaking on their plans for the rest of the window, she gave hope of at least one more arrival.
“We can expect the minimum of one more centre midfielder for Liverpool,” she added.
