Liverpool are keen to raid Newcastle and bring Bruno Guimaraes to Anfield, Arsenal are ready to spend big in January with three top targets revealed, while Thursday’s Transfer Gossip claims Man Utd are to cut their losses on a costly flop.

Liverpool are showing firm interest in the signing of Newcastle’s ever-improving midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, according to reports.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are very much in the market to strengthen their midfield options in 2023. Indeed, they will likely make at least two new signings with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita both likely to leave on free transfers. Furthermore, James Milner is likely in his final season at Anfield, with the veteran star turning 37 in January.

And both Jordan Henderson and Thiago are showing signs of slowing down. Both are over 30 now and both have already succumbed to injuries this season.

As such, midfield additions are very much in the club’s thinking with sporting director Julian Ward drawing up a wanted list.

Now, according to TNT Sport in Brazil, the name of Guimaraes features highly on that wishlist.

Signed for a bargain £33m from Lyon last January, Guimaraes has made a sizeable impact at St James’ Park. Indeed, Guimaraes was recently ranked No 1 of the 10 signings Newcastle have made since PIF took charge on Tyneside.

And such has been his impact that a number of clubs are starting to sit up and take notice.

Indeed, as well as Liverpool, both Real Madrid and Chelsea are also reportedly considering moves.

And the attention the midfielder is attracting has also put Newcastle on high alert.

Per reports, they are readying a new deal for the midfielder, worth around £200,000 a week. That will comfortably make the 24-year-old the highest paid player in Newcastle history.

His current arrangement is due to keep him on Tyneside until summer 2026. But Magpies chiefs want an extension sorted out to reward not only his excellent form but also keep the likes of Liverpool at arm’s length.

It’s certainly easy to see why Liverpool would be attracted to Guimaraes. His performances have lit up St James’ Park with the Brazilian quickly becoming a fans’ favourite with a series of dominant displays.

Eddie Howe’s side are currently fourth in the Premier League, having lost just once in their 12 games so far. They next face Aston Villa on Saturday, with a win potentially lifting them over Tottenham into third.

Arsenal are preparing to strengthen their squad in the January window – and have three name on their wishlist.

The Gunners are riding high at the top of the Premier League after an excellent start to the season. Mikel Arteta’s side have won nine of their first 11 games, losing just once, to sit two points clear of Manchester City.

But technical director Edu knows the club will need strengthening further if they are to continue their fight for glory. And while the top four remains the club’s first priority, Arsenal chiefs believe a solid January window could give them the onus to push on towards the Premier League title.

Indeed, as per The Sun, Edu and Arteta have three names on their wanted list. Armed with a transfer warchest of around £50m, they are reportedly targeting Danilo, Mykhaylo Mudryk and Yeremy Pino.

The Gunners are ready to turn back towards Palmeiras midfielder Danilo after their plans for Douglas Luiz were scuppered. And while a report claims they could launch a fresh bid for Villa man, Danilo looks a more obtainable target.

Arsenal also want to bring in a new winger too and could move for one of Mudryk or Pino.

Shakhtar star Mudryk is likely to be their top target, with the player expressing his desire to play for the Gunners.

The Ukrainian, however, will not come cheap with Shakhatr seeking as much as £50m for their star man.

As such, Villarreal winger Pino – rated at around £30m – is emerging as their back-up option.

Manchester United are ready to wave farewell to Donny van de Beek in January and will accept a massive loss on their £40m investment.

The Dutch star has struggled for game-time since moving to Old Trafford from Ajax in summer 2020. He was loaned to Everton for the second half of last season in a bid to kickstart his Premier League career.

However, Van de Beek fared little better on Merseyside, while the appointment of his former Ajax coach Erik ten Hag was also expected to give him a fresh start.

But the 25-year-old has not fared any better, making just three appearances so far this season.

Now The Sun claims Van de Beek will be allowed to make a cut-price exit in January.

That chase is being led by Leicester, who are reportedly preparing a £13m offer.

There is also interst in Italy, with AC Milan, Inter Milan and Juventus all credited with an interest.

Either way, Manchester United will not stand in the player’s way with a firm offer likely to tempt them to sell.

Van de Beek is a long way down Ten Hag’s thinking with United also looking to make further midfield recruits.
