Transfer Gossip: Liverpool cleared to sign £35m Milan star as triple swap deal talk emerges; Tottenham open bidding at £25m for Netherlands star

Liverpool are working on a deal to bring in a quality AC Milan star with a swap deal a possibility, Tottenham are pushing to sign a Netherlands defender, while Thursday’s Transfer Gossip claims a Chelsea star will sign for Man Utd in January.

ISMAEL BENNACER SWAP DEAL TALK GIVES LIVERPOOL HOPE

Liverpool have reportedly been given the green light to pursue the January signing of AC Milan star Ismael Bennacer.

The Algerian star is regarded as one of the most complete midfielders in Serie A, making 126 appearances since arriving in summer 2019.

A tenacious tackler with a strong engine, his deal at the San Siro is due to expire in summer 2024.

Milan are hoping to tie him to a new deal but talks have so far yet to see an agreement reached. It’s a situation Milan are all too familiar with, having been burned on multiple times in the past. Indeed, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Frank Kessie and Hakan Calhanoglu have all walked away from the Rossonerri as free agents in recent seasons, costing them millions in transfer fees.

And with 24-year-old Bennacer yet to sign a new deal, AC Milan are reportedly willing to cash in for around £35m in the January window.

Per Calciomercato, that has opened the door for Liverpool to pounce. His asking price looks well within their price range as Jurgen Klopp looks for a quick fix for his midfield issues at Anfield.

Liverpool swap for Ismael Bennacer on cards

Furthermore, Klopp could look to land Bennacer on the cheap with Milan showing an interest in two Reds stars.

Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain both fall out of contract next summer and are eligible to leave on free transfers. Per reports on Wednesday, Milan are emerging as possible destinations for both players as they look for a new club.

Now talk of a triple January swap deal is emerging. Liverpool signed Keita for around £53m back in 2018, but can realistically only get £12m for him in January.

Oxlade-Chamberlain was a £35m buy from Arsenal the summer before. Again a nominal fee of just £8m could land him now. Were Milan to show interest in both, Liverpool could land Bennacer in exchange for both players and with a cash adjustment of around £15m.

TOTTENHAM KEEN TO SIGN DENZEL DUMFRIES AFTER LEARNING PRICE

Tottenham are ready to start the bidding for Denzel Dumfies after learning about the asking price on his head.

Antonio Conte is desperate to bolster his defensive options in 2023, with the right wing-back area a particular cause for concern. The Spurs boss has flitted between Matt Doherty and Emerson Royal in the position, with neither really convincing.

But Dumfries could provide the answer after a series of impressive displays at Inter Milan.

He has found the net twice and also added three assists from 20 appearances this season. And that form has alerted a string of top suitors, including Manchester United and Chelsea.

But it is Tottenham who are seemingly in the driving seat.

According to Tuttosport, he is the player most likely to leave Inter in the January window. Aware of the growing interest in Dumfries, Simone Inzaghi’s side have put a minimum £25m (€30m) fee on his head.

That looks unlikely to deter Tottenham and there are growing reports he will be the subject of a firm approach.

However, they reportedly hope the fee could top £30m (€35m). Furthermore, there are reports that Inter will only sanction his sale if he can remain at the San Siro on loan for the rest of the season.

CHELSEA STAR DESTINED TO JOIN MAN UTD – REPORT

Manchester United are looking increasingly likely to sign Christian Pulisic in January, according to reports in Italy.

The Chelsea star has cut an unhappy figure this season, failing to play regularly under Thomas Tuchel or Graham Potter.

That has led to suggestions he could be allowed to depart in January. The likes of Juventus, Leeds and Newcastle are all reportedly keen.

However, Pulisic’s form at the World Cup has reminded everyone why the American is a Grade A player. As such, talk of a move to Manchester United has come to the fore in recent days.

Initial reports claimed a loan move to Old Trafford was potentially on the cards for the January window.

But Chelsea only want a straight cash sale and Calciomercato now reports a permanent move to Manchester United is on the cards.

They claim the Red Devils will pay £35m for Pulisic to end his Chelsea struggles. The 24-year-old only has 26 goal involvements over the last two-and-a-half years with Chelsea.
