Liverpool transfers: ‘We’ll see’ – Juventus target leaves door open for Klopp amid talk of cut-price move

Liverpool transfers: Adrien Rabiot and Federico Chiesa of Juventus are targets for Jurgen Klopp

Juventus forward Federico Chiesa has offered a coy response to reports that he could be sold in a cut-price move to Liverpool this summer.

The 25-year-old forward has just completed his third season at Juventus but first as a permanent player after two years on loan. During that time, he has found himself regularly linked with moves to Anfield with Jurgen Klopp a keen admirer.

Those prospects of a move never looked likely while Juventus were pushing for major honours. However, a difficult season for the club has shifted the landscape entirely.

Indeed, the Bianconeri were hit with a 10-point penalty that saw them drop out of the Champions League places to finish seventh. And rather than the UCL to look forward to, Juve will instead compete in UEFA’s third-tier competition next season, the UEFA Conference League.

That will badly impact their finances, which, as a result, means several stars are vulnerable to leaving. As a result, the likes of Dusan Vlahovic and Gleison Bremer are among the high-profile stars linked with exits.

There is also plenty of interest in Adrien Rabiot, with the midfielder about to become a free agent. The likes of Manchester United and Newcastle are reportedly leading the chase to sign the Frenchman with Liverpool also reportedly keen.

Furthermore, veteran stars Angel Di Maria and Juan Cuadrado are also likely to depart. As a result, it will likely be a very different looking Juventus side next season.

However, the first man through the exit door may well prove to be Chiesa.

He endured a difficult season on a personal level, managing just four goals and six assists from 34 appearances.

Federico Chiesa keeps Liverpool transfer door open

As a result, it’s reported he is the star Juve are most likely to offload this summer.

And amid talk he could be offloaded for just €35m (£30m) that has rekindled claims of a move to Anfield.

Chiesa was questioned directly about the possibility of a move to the Merseysiders. And the 42-times capped Italy star was not exactly ruling anything out.

“I’m happy with how I finished, it was a really difficult year for me,” he said to Calciomercato.

“Now I’m only thinking about the holidays. Then from next season I’ll start preparing already from the summer training camp. Reopening with me?

“We’ll see. I’m at Juventus and I’m thinking about Juventus.”

Rumours of a move away from Juve have gathered pace amid an alleged falling out with coach Massimiliano Allegri. As well as Liverpool, the likes of Chelsea, Bayern Munich and PSG are also being linked with the Euro 2020 winner.

At the sort of money mentioned, it is easy to see why Chiesa would be a player of huge appeal.

But Liverpool are well blessed in the attacking department and it would be churlish of Klopp to spend money there when he has more far pressing needs in the team.
