Haaland transfer terms revealed as Laporte leads Man City welcomes and Dortmund sign replacement within an hour

Erling Haaland, Borussia Dortmund

Erling Haaland has only cost Manchester City €60million in terms of a transfer fee, it has been revealed, after they announced an agreement in principle to sign him.

A statement from Manchester City on Tuesday confirmed they are securing the services of one of football’s most sought-after talents from next season onwards. Subject to personal terms, Haaland will become a Man City player on July 1st.

He could turn out to be the missing piece of an already very complete puzzle at the Etihad Stadium. Man City have lacked a focal point up front since Sergio Aguero left last year.

In Haaland, they are getting one of the best in the business. And the terms of the transfer could make it even sweeter.

Sky Sports are among many sources reporting that Haaland will cost them less money than had been expected.

It was previously thought Haaland would move for the value of his €75m release clause. However, it has now come to light that his exit clause is in fact just €60m.

Equating to just over £51m, it represents good business for someone who many believe would be worth more without an exit clause.

The flipside of the deal is that City will have to pay up to an additional €40m in agents’ fees and a signing-on bonus. Their total outlay will be around £85.5m.

In terms of wages, Fabrizio Romano has reported that Haaland will match Kevin De Bruyne as City’s highest earner on £375,000 per week.

The prospect of an assist machine like De Bruyne setting up fearsome scorer Haaland is quite astonishing. Another member of the City squad who is happy to see the Norwegian joining is defender Aymeric Laporte.

He joked on Twitter: “Happy not to be running after this guy for the next couple of years. Welcome Erling.”

Haaland will follow in the footsteps of his father Alf-Inge by representing Man City. First of all, though, he must conclude his Dortmund career.

Dortmund announce Adeyemi to replace Haaland

Karim Adeyemi transfer to Borussia Dortmund

The 21-year-old has scored a brilliant 85 goals from 88 games for the club.

Soon, they will be without him, though – and they are already preparing for that fact. Indeed, just an hour after Haaland’s impending move was confirmed, Dortmund released a statement about a striker signing of their own.

They have got their hands on the highly-rated Karim Adeyemi. Ironically, he will join them from RB Salzburg – just as Haaland did in January 2020.

Although a different type of attacker, he will help fill the void left by City’s new frontman. Dortmund have paid around €35million to sign him to a contract until 2027.

Adeyemi passed a medical with the club on Tuesday. He was supposedly of interest to a few Premier League clubs himself. But at the age of 20, there will be time yet for that.
