‘I hope not…’ Man City star tipped to frustrate Guardiola as PSG eye stunning double swoop

Bernardo Silva and Phil Foden of Manchester City

Paris Saint-Germain have just completed the signing of Real Madrid attacker Marco Asensio on a free transfer. Now, they are looking to bring in a Manchester City star.

Pep Guardiola has always maintained that he would never force a Cityzens player to stay at the club. As a result, the manager could be set to lose one of his best players.

With Guardiola’s current crop of players in with a chance of securing a famous treble, Man City supporters would be frustrated to see any of them leave.

However, PSG are now reportedly ‘negotiating’ with the representatives of Bernardo Silva, who, as mentioned, has expressed his desire for a fresh challenge elsewhere.

In a recent interview, Guardiola was asked whether the FA Cup final would be Silva’s last game for Man City.

He replied: “We have one more game in the Champions League final. I hope not, but I don’t know.”

This season, Silva has made 54 appearances across all competitions, scoring seven goals and making eight assists. But now, it seems Man City will have to prepare for life without him.

PSG ‘negotiating’ with Bernardo Silva

According to FootMercato journalist Santi Aouna, PSG are negotiating with Silva over a potential summer move.

On Twitter, he wrote: “After completing the signing of Asensio, [PSG sporting advisor] Luis Campos continues to negotiate with Jorge Mendes over the arrival of Bernardo Silva.

“A contract proposal has already been made and Paris will submit a bid to Man City in the coming weeks.”

Man City will reportedly demand a fee of £70m for Silva this summer. So, PSG will have to put their money where their mouth is to get a deal over the line.

Interestingly, after Silva scored a brace against Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final, PSG manager Christoph Galtier hinted that his team could make a move for him.

“Above all, Silva is a Manchester City player,” Galtier said.

“Many of you saw his last game, he was very good. I discovered him when he arrived in Monaco, where Luis Campos recruited him.

“He’s obviously an interesting player. But I repeat, he is a Manchester City player.”

For now, Silva’s focus will be on Man City’s upcoming Champions League final against Inter Milan next Saturday.

But, if Guardiola fails to convince the Portuguese star to stay at the Etihad, PSG is his most likely next destination.
