‘Leaked’ Erling Haaland transfer ‘truths’ trouble Man City as world record €240m exit talk grows

Manchester City are facing the prospect of losing Erling Haaland in summer 2024, according to strong reports coming out of Spain.
The Norwegian goal machine moved to the Etihad in a bargain £54m deal last summer. And the 22-year-old Leeds born star has adapted brilliantly to his new surroundings, having already scored an astonishing 42 goals in just 37 games.
As such, he is well on course to be named Footballer of the Year, having shattered several goalscoring records already. Despite that, this feature looks at 10 other records that Haaland can still break this season.
However, despite his heroics, his time at the Etihad has been dogged by a number of claims surrounding his future.
The row first emerged when it was suggested by Jamie Carragher, that Haaland may have joined the wrong team in City. Explaining that his arrival has changed the way the side plays, he points to a slight dropping off in standards overall at Man City.
That argument then gathered pace amid alarming claims that Pep Guardiola never actually wanted to sign Haaland in the first place.
And while the City boss and Haaland have been quick to play that down, talk of a ‘divorce’ between the two parties continues to rear its head.
Haaland is now back at City for treatment on a groin injury that forced him out of Norway’s latest round of fixtures.
However, strong and fresh reports of a move away from the Etihad in summer 2024 have on Thursday surfaced with a vengeance.

Real Madrid have 2024 Haaland transfer plan in place
Now, according to AS, Real Madrid are stepping up plans to sign Haaland.
Under the headline ‘Haaland, priority objective’, they claim Los Blancos are well positioned to sign the striker in summer 2024.
And they believe that, despite denials to the contrary, a clause in his contract will allow him to leave in 16 months time. Furthermore, they claim that is set at somewhere between €200m – €240m (£176.7m – £212m), with the upper figure due to set a new world-record fee.
And while they claim any move will ultimately be down to the player’s personal choice, Real Madrid are making it clear that there will be a space for him at the club in 2024.
Furthermore, they claim City only signed Haaland before them last summer as the ongoing excellent form of Karim Benzema meant the timing did not suit them. And while Haaland and his family were willing to make the move, the Spaniards regrettably backed out of the deal.
However, AS now believes ‘there is ‘beginning’ to be concerns at City that Haaland could depart.
And they claim that truths about Haaland’s exit clause have been ‘leaked’ to the media. And while there are denials that is linked to Guardiola’s planned departure in 2025, there does appear a very real fear he will leave next year.
They claim Real Madrid are well aware of the exact details and stipulations stating how and when Haaland can leave. And that is why the Spanish giants are preparing to meet his clause next summer when the time to replace Benzema will be upon them.
