Manchester City are ready to make their move for top left-back target Marc Cucurella, according to a respected source.
Cucurella enjoyed an impressive debut season in the Premier League with Brighton. He played in all 35 Premier League games available to him after his late-August arrival.
The former Barcelona youngster may have earned himself a quick next step up in the process. There have been plenty of reports about interest from Manchester City.
With Oleksandr Zinchenko considering his future, City could be in the market for a more natural left-back. Joao Cancelo did well there last season, but can play on the right.
Hence, Pep Guardiola is focusing on Cucurella as a target. Indeed, the manager is said to be driving their pursuit. And according to Fabrizio Romano, City are now ready to make their opening offer.
Writing for the Guardian, Romano has revealed that the Premier League champions will submit a bid to Brighton within a few days.
It is predicted that Brighton – who are also about to lose Yves Bissouma to Tottenham – would make a major profit on the £15.4m they spent to sign Cucurella less than 12 months ago.
It would be good business by Brighton, although whether they would be able to replicate last season’s top-half finish after selling two key men is up for question.

Still, they would struggle to fend off a club as powerful – financially and from a sporting perspective – as Man City.
Cucurella could complete Man City
Having already wrapped up the signing of striker Erling Haaland, City have strengthened one of the key roles that did not have much depth in their title-winning squad.
And by targeting Cucurella, they could reinforce arguably their only other missing element.
Premier League trio want Brighton's Marc Cucurella
Manchester City, Chelsea and Spurs have all shown an interest in Marc Cucurella, although he won't come cheap.
It would only serve to strengthen an already star-studded squad. Guardiola will therefore be eyeing further prizes for 2022-23, even if title rivals Liverpool are investing well too.
But there is still work to do in their pursuit of Cucurella. Much will hinge on how Brighton respond to their initial offer.
