Man City identify perfect Mahrez replacement with 17 goal involvements in France last season

Man City target Bradley Barcola in action for Lyon
Manchester City have reportedly identified the perfect replacement for Riyad Mahrez as the Algerian winger nears his move to the Saudi Pro League.
Pep Guardiola is fully expected to delve back into the transfer market after City agreed a deal for Mahrez thought to be around £34.7million with Al-Ahli. while doubts also continue over the long-term future of Bernardo Silva.
Mahrez was left out of City’s squad for the pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea after it emerged that an offer for his services had been accepted and he is now poised to pen a three-year deal over the weekend.
And with the experienced attacker moving on, Guardiola knows he needs to balance out his squad with another addition.
To that end, City are said to be considering a move for Lyon star Bradley Barcola, as reported by 90min.
The report states that Guardiola had scouts watching the 20-year-old throughout last season, with the attacker having come through the youth ranks at Lyon.
Barcola firmly established himself as a first-team regular during the second half of last season, scoring seven goals and adding an impressive 10 assists in 31 matches.
However, City are not the only club chasing his signature, with French champions Paris Saint-Germain and Bundesliga side RB Leipzig also keen.
PSG favourites to land Lyon ace
Both clubs have already made enquiries for the youngster, who remains under contract until 2026, with PSG believed to be stepping up their pursuit after speaking with Barcola’s agent Jorge Mendes.
City also have alternatives in mind in the shape of Barcola’s Lyon teammate Rayan Cherki and Celta Vigo’s Gabri Veiga, while former Leeds United winger Raphinha is also a potential option.
However, Barcola remains a realistic option for the reigning Premier League champions, if they can beat PSG to his signature.
