Pep Guardiola future latest: Manchester City boss set to commit with top transfer target also on the way

Pep Guardiola is determined to bring Champions League success to Manchester City and will show his commitment to the cause by penning a new contract, reports claim.
City are coming to terms with their heartbreaking semi-final defeat against Real Madrid. And there have been some suggestions Guardiola could leave when his contract expires. The Spaniard’s deal is up at the end of next season.
However the Daily Star report that Guardiola is going nowhere. The City boss is more determined than ever to deliver Champions League glory and will commit his future.
Winning Europe’s elite competition is the one thing that is missing during his time with City. It was on the to-do list when he was lured from Bayern Munich. And the report claims he wants three more attempts before calling time on his City reign.
With that in mind Guardiola is now set to pen a new three-year deal. That will take him until the end of the 2024-25 season and gives him the time he needs.
Following the news that Jurgen Klopp has just signed a contract extension, it is great news for Liverpool and City fans. Indeed for all lovers of Premier League football who can look forward to more battles between the two. Maybe not so for the chasing pack who are desperately trying to close the gap.
Meanwhile City will be boosted further by the anticipated arrival of Erling Haaland. It is thought that Guardiola’s decision to commit could in part be down to the fact the Norwegian will sign.

Erling Haaland says he prefers Man City over Real Madrid
Erling Haaland will leave Borussia Dortmund this summer and has said he prefers a move to the Premier League with Manchester City more that to La Liga with Real Madrid
City have a side packed with talent. However Guardiola believes that the Borussia Dortmund ace is the final piece in the jigsaw. The striker could be the difference between success and failure.
Pep Guardiola backed by the board
Chairman Khaldoon Al-Mubarak continues to back Guardiola in the transfer market. He will get the cheque book out again and spend the £67m that is needed to get the deal done. That kind of support is another reason Guardiola wants to stay.
Following the disappointing defeat on Wednesday night, focus now returns to the Premier League. City have a great chance to go on and win what would be Guardiola’s fourth title.
City are one point clear of Liverpool with four games remaining. The job is clear. Next up is Sunday’s huge game at home to Newcastle when a response will be needed. Liverpool face a tricky test 24 hours earlier when they entertain Tottenham.
The news that Guardiola could sign fresh terms will give City fans a huge boost. The players as well after what will have been a tough few days. Despite failing to win the Champions League in six attempts Guardiola is next to Klopp as the best coach out there. He has eight trophies in the bag with the possibility of another title to follow.
So having him on board for the next three years can only be a good thing for City.
