Phil Foden has reportedly put pen to paper on a new deal with his boyhood club Manchester City worth £200,000-a-week.

Foden played a vital role in landing Man City the Premier League title last season, making 28 league appearances. Now, it seems he has been rewarded for his efforts with a lucrative new deal. Following this contract, Man City are also expected to announce further new deals with current players.

According to the Daily Star, the new deal spans six years, keeping Foden at the Etihad Stadium until 2028.

Foden was reportedly close to signing a new deal just six months ago, worth around £150,000-a-week.

However, the England international is said to have decided to delay new terms until the end of the season, in order to fully evaluate his options.

Now, it seems that waiting game has earned him an extra £50,000 a week.

It is not believed Foden ever considered leaving the club. Instead, he opted to wait to see how much money new signings at Man City would make in comparison.

Erling Haaland has been Man City’s biggest summer signing, and he is reportedly on £400,000-a-week.

Following this, Foden managed to land himself a similarly lucrative new wage.

Riyad Mahrez and Rodri are also in line to be offered new contracts at the club.

Phil Foden extension great news for Man City fans

The Man City faithful will be delighted with this recent news.

Since breaking into the first-team, Foden has quickly established himself as a fan favourite at the club.

Last season he played an important role in the City attack, and will be expected to continue with these top performances.

This season he will play alongside Haaland, and will be expected to provide goal opportunities for the young Norwegian.

He will also face more competition in the squad, following the signing of Julian Alvarez.

Alvarez was a star performer in Argentina for River Plate. Aged just 22, he is expected to develop into a world-class star under the coaching of Pep Guardiola.

But for Man City fans, the added competition is nothing but exciting. The youthful age of the squad now shows that they are set up for a promising and successful future.

With Foden also now likely to be staying put, it really is a great time to be a Man City fan.
