Pundit gushes over Manchester City target who would ‘help Haaland’ due to ‘lethal’ qualities

Kevin Campbell thinks Manchester City have a good chance of signing reported target Toni Kroos, and he would “help [Erling] Haaland”.
City are no strangers to signing some of Europe’s very best talents to supplement their squad. The transfer of Haaland is one that certainly fits into that category.
Ilkay Gundogan, Joao Cancelo and Rodri were all fantastic talents in Europe prior to arrival, too.
Indeed, City’s recruitment has been phenomenal for much of the time Pep Guardiola has been the manager. It has been little surprise they have been so successful with the ilk of players around.
The club and the manager are acutely aware of the need to carry on recruiting in order to stay on top. That has allowed them to win the league four out of the last five seasons.
The Citizens will be hoping to continue in the same vein over the next few seasons.
They seem to have identified the next quality signing to add to their already fantastic squad.
Indeed, Sport has reported of late that the Etihad outfit are in talks with Real Madrid midfielder Kroos over a potential move.
Kroos to City on the cards
The midfielder’s contract situation is up in the air. Should he not sign a new deal, he will be able to negotiate with clubs other than Real come January.
It currently looks as if that will be the case, ahead of his deal running out at the end of the season. City could well be the beneficiaries of that, having already tested the waters by approaching the midfielder.
Former Arsenal man Campbell thinks that snaring Kroos would be massive for the Citizens.
“He’s an absolutely top-class player. When you’re a possession-based team like Man City, Kroos has got all the right clubs on his CV. There’s no one better,” he told Football Insider.
“He would help Haaland even more. He likes to run in behind – just give it to Kroos, make your run, and the ball will appear. He’s lethal from outside the box, too.”
Indeed, a midfield containing Kevin De Bruyne and Kroos would be a dream for Haaland. The supply to the forward would be of the highest quality.
Campbell also feels that there is a good chance Kroos ends up at the Etihad.
“There’s going to be a changing of the guard at Man City, and they’re not going to stop pursuing quality. He’s a born winner, and it wouldn’t surprise me if he fancied it at Man City,” he added.
The fact Kroos spent a season under Guardiola’s management is likely to help matters. That he would be joining a squad full of quality is another reason he could well be in favour of the move.
