Real Madrid ‘more excited’ by Man City superstar than ‘traitor’ Mbappe as Ancelotti plots mega-money move

Real Madrid targets Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe
Real Madrid are reportedly ‘more excited’ by the prospect of signing Manchester City striker Erling Haaland than Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe.
It’s thought that the LaLiga giants will look to bring in a new high-profile striker at the end of the season after Karim Benzema made a switch to Saudi this summer.
Mbappe has been on Real Madrid’s radar for several years, and it seems he could leave PSG next summer as he does not want to sign a new contract with the French club.
The 24-year-old has less than 12 months remaining on his deal, meaning he could be available on a free transfer. Whoever snaps him up would undoubtedly be getting one of the bargains of the century.
Despite this, reports suggest that Carlo Ancelotti would prefer Real Madrid to bring in Haaland, who is breaking records for fun at Man City.
The Norway international netted a staggering 52 goals in 53 appearances in all competitions last term, helping the Cityzens secure a historic treble.
Haaland’s excellent form has continued this season, too, scoring six goals in four Premier League appearances so far.
Real Madrid prefer Haaland to ‘traitor’ Mbappe
According to Spanish outlet SPORT, Real Madrid are ‘more excited’ by the idea of signing Haaland than a move for Mbappe. The report also describes Mbappe as a ‘traitor’ because of his decision to force an exit from PSG.
Real Madrid would certainly have to make a huge offer to stand any chance of signing Haaland next summer. Man City will, understandably, make it extremely difficult for them to sign the striker, though.
As previously reported by TEAMtalk, the Cityzens are set to offer Haaland a new contract, which would extend his stay at the Etihad beyond his current deal, which is valid until 2027.
Man City are willing to pay Haaland £600,000 per week. He currently earns £375,000 per week, making him the Cityzens joint-top earner alongside Kevin de Bruyne.
The new deal would not only make him Man City’s highest earner but also give him the most lucrative contract in Premier League history.
It will be interesting to see if Haaland accepts the new deal. If he turns the offer down, it will shed light on whether he wants to join another team like Real Madrid in the future.
If he signs, the LaLiga giants will find it incredibly difficult to offer him better terms than the Cityzens, and may be forced to prioritize a move for Mbappe instead.
