Man City star hints at summer departure after Champions League heroics; surprisingly low price tag named

Julian Alvarez and Bernardo Silva of Manchester City

Manchester City sensation Bernardo Silva has broken the silence on his future amid ongoing links with Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona.

The Portugal international scored a stunning brace against Real Madrid on Wednesday to book the Cityzen’s place in the Champions League final.

However, despite his importance to the team, Pep Guardiola is ‘willing’ to let Silva leave this summer. But only if someone meets his hefty price tag.

Indeed, recent reports suggest both PSG and Barcelona have registered a keen interest in the Man City star.

A switch to the Camp Nou is believed to be Silva’s favoured option. But, it isn’t clear whether the Catalans can afford him.

According to French outlet L’EquipeMan City will demand between €50m and €70m (approx. £43.5m – £60.9m) for Silva this summer.

This is an outrageously cheap price for a player of Silva’s quality. But, the report notes the fact that the 28-year-old only has two years remaining on his contract is a reason for his cut price valuation.

Silva: ‘We’ll see what happens…’

Following his brace in the Champions League semi-final victory against Real Madrid on Wednesday, Silva was questioned on his future.

As mentioned, links with PSG and Barcelona have been circling for weeks now. So, it wouldn’t be a major surprise to see him leave Man City, despite his clear importance to the team.

Speaking to Canal+, as relayed by RMC Sporthe said: “The plan is to end the season well.

“Win the Premier League, try [to win] against United in the FA Cup final, and then Inter. Then, in the summer, we will see what will happen.”

This season, the attacker has made 52 appearances across all competitions for the Cityzens. In the process, he has scored seven goals and made seven assists.

Since Silva’s arrival at the Etihad in 2017, he has helped his team to win four Premier League titles, an FA Cup and four League Cups. Now, he could potentially add a famous treble to his list of accolades this season.

However, despite his success, reports suggest Silva has grown ‘tired’ of life at Man City. As mentioned Guardiola will not stand in the way of any player if they want to leave, so a departure is looking likely.

Silva came close to joining Barcelona last summer. But now, it seems PSG are leading the race, due to the Catalan’s ongoing financial issues.

With that in mind, it will be interesting to see if Silva does leave at the end of the season. Or, if Guardiola makes one last attempt to convince him to stay.
