Man City transfer news: Major Marc Cucurella update leaves City with just one hurdle to overcome

Marc Cucurella playing for Brighton

Man City have reportedly agreed personal terms with Marc Cucurella and are in advanced talks to finalise a fee with Premier League rivals Brighton.

The left-back is said to have accepted City’s contract offer and made it clear to his current club that he wants to join the reigning champions at The Etihad.

However, a City source has reportedly told Football Insider that a full agreement is not in place, with the two clubs yet to agree on a fee.

There is confidence though that the deal will get done and that negotiations are now at an advanced stage.

Pep Guardiola has prioritised the signing of Brighton’s current Player of the Year above other additions.

He wants to utilise the attacking talents of the left-back, with Cucurella excelling since his move last summer.

Brighton are not expected to make life easy for City over a deal though. That is after they recently parted company with outstanding midfielder Yves Bissouma for just £25million.

However, Football Insider adds that City’s interest is proving too hard to turn down.

Cucrealla could join Leeds midfielder Kalvin Phillips in Manchester, as City also target the England star.

City face major rivals for Phillips

Guardiola is a massive admirer of Phillips’ qualities, but City are facing more and more rivals for the Elland Road favourite.

One bid has already been submitted for the player, while another is likely to follow.

City have made one signing so far this summer but it was certainly a high-profile one. Prolific striker Erling Haaland arrived in an initial £54m deal from Borussia Dortmund.

He looks set to make his Premier League debut at West Ham on August 7. However, whether he will joined by Cucurella or Phillips in the City line-up remains to be seen.
