Man City in a trio of European giants to emerge for ‘unhappy’ Chelsea star

Kyle Walker and Mason Mount compete for the ball in the 2021 Champions League final

Manchester City are reportedly one of a trio of European giants who have emerged as interested parties in ‘unhappy’ Chelsea star Mason Mount.

The England international has been lined up as one of those the Blues want to tie down to a new contract. At present, Mount is on just £75k per week, which makes him one of their lowest paid players.

It was previously suggested the reigning European champions wanted to double that salary to reflect his progress on the pitch.

However, according to Calciomercato, their offers have not been close to what the 22-year-old wants. As such, he could consider leaving.

And Fichajes report that City, along with Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, are interested in making the midfielder an offer.

They claim that City would take the chance to offer a blow to their Premier League title rivals. They sit first and second in the table currently.

And Bayern would utilise him as a replacement for the ageing Thomas Muller.

A separate report, this time from English press, also emerged over the weekend detailing Mount’s discontent, but focused on his lack of playing time instead.

The Daily Star claimed he is ‘frustrated’ and is feeling ‘under appreciated’ under Thomas Tuchel. They echoed that he would be prepared to leave.

Leicester City centre half Wesley Fofana has name checked the likes of Chelsea and Both Manchester clubs when discussing potential ‘dream’ moves in the future, with more updates on Youri Tielemans and Anthony Martial.

Mount has started just two of Chelsea’s last seven top-flight outings. He was even hauled off after just 60 minutes of Saturday’s match at Leicester.

A source is reported to have said: “Mason is a top lad and thought of well within Chelsea, and is popular with the team. But he isn’t feeling appreciated anymore.

“He’s been at Chelsea since he was a tiny lad. But despite coming up through the academy, he doesn’t feel like he gets the same treatment or recognition as players bought in for big money.”

Another forward on the City radar

Meanwhile, Man City are ahead of Everton and Wolves in the race for an AC Milan forward, according to reports.

Pep Guardiola has plenty of attackers at his disposal, including Phil Foden, Raheem Sterling, Riyad Mahrez and Gabriel Jesus.

But the Citizens are yet to replace record goalscorer Sergio Aguero after his summer switch to Barcelona.

They’ve had a number of top targets on their wish list, such as Harry Kane and Erling Haaland, but a lesser-known alternative is now on their radar…
