£100m Real Madrid star issues explosive response to Man Utd interest after rumours of big-money Ten Hag offer

Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde has provided a sensational response when quizzed about a move away from the club, with Manchester United among his potential suitors.

Real signed Valverde from Uruguayan side Penarol in July 2016. As he was only a youngster at the time, Real managed to snap him up for just €5million.

That transfer has proved to be a brilliant piece of business. Valverde’s importance to Real has grown massively over the last few seasons and he is now one of their most integral players.

The star has made 39 appearances in all competitions so far this term, chipping in with 12 goals and four assists. He is loved by manager Carlo Ancelotti due to his ability to play either as a central midfielder or as a right winger.

The only reason Ancelotti does not have to rely on Valverde in midfield every week is that he can also utilise veterans Luka Modric and Toni Kroos there. Once those two players retire, Valverde will likely become a regular in the centre of the pitch. He could form a devastating midfield trio with Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga.

Despite Valverde being one of Real’s most important players currently and going forward, there have been rumours of a potential move to the Premier League.

Earlier in the season, Arsenal scouts were left blown away by Valverde during a Champions League group match between Real and Shakhtar Donetsk. The Gunners officials had been sent to watch winger Mykhaylo Mudryk, but Valverde stole the show.

Last month, reports emerging from Spain suggested Man Utd had submitted a £58m offer for the 24-year-old at Erik ten Hag’s request.

Fede Valverde shuts down transfer rumours with massive claim

However, there have not been many updates on Man Utd’s interest in Valverde since then, which suggests those reports may have been getting a bit too eager.

During a recent interview, Valverde has sensationally pledged his allegiance to Real by revealing how hard it will be for another club to sign him.

“If they want me out of Real Madrid… they will have to kill me,” he said (via Fabrizio Romano).

It seems Valverde will not be pushing for a transfer elsewhere any time soon. As such, Man Utd must end any interest they may have in him and pursue other top midfielders.

It is understandable that Valverde does not want to move clubs. At Real, he has won some huge trophies, including the Champions League and La Liga. It is hard for many teams to be able to offer this kind of success.

Man Utd must also understand that it would take an astronomical amount of money for Real to agree on selling Valverde. He is viewed as an integral part of the future, especially when Kroos and Modric depart. Therefore, it would take way more than a £58m bid to land him. It would not be a surprise if Real set his price tag at well over £100m.

Meanwhile, Ben Jacobs has explained Man Utd’s plans for their attack and detailed their interest in a ‘red hot’ striker.
