Man Utd, Chelsea brimming with confidence over Bayern raid after top star gives green light to transfer

Benjamin Pavard and Serge Gnabry of Bayern Munich

Manchester United and Chelsea will have full confidence about signing a £30.5million player from Bayern Munich after he made a telling admission about his future.

A few Bayern players have been linked with Premier League moves in recent months. Striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting is reportedly on Manchester United’s radar as Erik ten Hag looks to replace Cristiano Ronaldo. However, the Red Devils may have to go after a striker alternative as Bayern are keen to keep the goalscorer.

Sadio Mane has been tipped to make a sensational return to Liverpool, too. According to a report from Football Insider, Mane has told friends he misses the Premier League and Liverpool in particular. Once again, though, Bayern are eager to keep their man in Bavaria.

Choupo-Moting and Mane are joined by right-back Benjamin Pavard in being tipped for a switch to England.

The 26-year-old is reportedly in the sights of Manchester United and Chelsea.

Man Utd want to find a long-term solution at right-back as Ten Hag appears set to let Aaron Wan-Bissaka leave. Presumably, the new right-back would replace Diogo Dalot, too.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are preparing for Cesar Azpilicueta’s eventual departure. They will need someone to provide cover and competition for Reece James if Azpilicueta does go.

Pavard could be the man to fill the void at either Old Trafford or Stamford Bridge. And the two Prem clubs have now been put on red alert by his transfer admission.

Bayern ace pushing for transfer

During an interview with French newspaper L’Equipe (via Fabrizio Romano), Pavard revealed his desire to take part in a ‘new project’. He also laid out one command for his potential suitors to match.

“There’ve been no concrete talks over new contract,” the defender admitted. “I’ve immense respect for Bayern — I’m not against discovering a new project.

“Maybe now is the time. Why not discover [a] new country? The sporting project has to be interesting.”

Pavard has only played in his native France and then Germany so far in his career. It is clear he is looking for a new challenge, which may take him to England, Spain or Italy.

Due to the Prem’s current dominance and spending power, Man Utd and Chelsea will be right up there if Pavard comes onto the market.

And the two clubs will be very confident about reaching a contract agreement with the Frenchman as he clearly hopes to leave Bayern.

Benjamin Pavard available for decent price

Pavard should not cost too much, either. transfermarkt rate him at €35m (£30.5m) and Bayern will probably hold out for a similar fee when letting him go.

Pavard would be a top signing for Man Utd or Chelsea. He has plenty of international experience, having helped France to win the World Cup in 2018.

Pavard has also made lots of appearances in the Champions League with Bayern and helped the Bundesliga giants to win the competition in 2019-20.

Pavard would bring a winning attitude with him to Man Utd, which is definitely needed after a poor few years for the Manchester side.

Chelsea have enjoyed more success recently, winning the UCL under Thomas Tuchel in 2021. However, Graham Potter could still do with adding a quality operator like Pavard to his squad if Chelsea are to achieve more success.

Meanwhile, Ten Hag has sent a warning to Man Utd starlet Alejandro Garnacho, despite his top performance against Aston Villa on Thursday.
