Benjamin Sesko: Man Utd deciding whether to pursue a deal as talks reveal Salzburg asking price for player Jurgen Klopp ‘loves’

Manchester United and Chelsea are reportedly ready to fight it out for Red Bull Salzburg forward Benjamin Sesko, while Jurgen Klopp’s ‘love’ for the player has also seen Liverpool linked.
The 19-year-old has emerged as one of the top young talents in European football in recent times and made his mark with Austrian outfit Salzburg last season.
Sesko spent the 2020/21 campaign on loan at Austrian second division side FC Liefering. But it was last term, back at Salzburg, where the youngster began to make headlines.
Despite only starting eight league games, largely due to injury, he notched 10 goals and seven assists in 36 games in all competitions.
And this season has started in equally impressive fashion, with Sesko being involved in three goals from three games.
That form has led to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano claiming that Chelsea had a meeting with the player last week, although United have had multiple discussions over the forward.
Sky Sports‘ Dharmesh Sheth adds that there is a current gap in United‘s valuation of the player. He also states that the Red Devils are currently deciding whether to pursue a deal.
As for Liverpool, Klopp actually got to see Sesko’s qualities at first hand in a Liverpool friendly loss to Salzburg.
The Reds went down to a 1-0 defeat last month, with Sesko the matchwinner for the Austrian side.
Klopp impressed with Sesko qualities
The Liverpool boss has spoken previously about how ‘incredibly young but incredibly skilled’ the Salzburg side are.
Indeed, he told LFC TV (via 90min): “What Red Bull is doing is a really interesting project, I have to say.
“The team is incredibly young but incredibly skilled. Again, they kind of change every year, they sell players but still a good team.
“It’s really interesting what they are doing. The football philosophy is not too far away from ours as well.
“So it will be intense, it will be high press everywhere, it will be counter-press, we have to find solutions and that’s why we are here.”
A report earlier this week claimed that Salzburg are willing to listen to offers of over £45million for the attacker. That is despite the fact that he is under contract until 2026.
And now Spanish outlet Fichajes states that seven clubs are chasing the player, who they value at £54m.
As well as United and Chelsea’s interest, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and PSG are the other clubs mentioned.
