Casemiro bullish on ‘quality’ new Man Utd teammate after revealing first impression on city of Manchester

Man Utd stars Fred, Casemiro, Anthony Elanga and Antony

Casemiro revealed his first impression of the city of Manchester after explaining why he’s unlikely to venture out much, and hailed Man Utd for making one “quality” signing in particular.

After a stuttering start, Man Utd’s window produced the signatures of several high profile stars. While Frenkie de Jong eluded them, Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro and Antony all arrived for big fees.

No less important was the arrival of Christian Eriksen. The classy Dane arrived on a free after his Brentford contract expired and he’s already established himself as the chief string puller in the engine room.

Eriksen’s main midfield partner thus far has been the resurgent Scott McTominay.

That’s ensured Casemiro has been made to bide his time, though a player of his calibre won’t be kept out for long.

Now, speaking via Man Utd’s official website, the 30-year-old opened up about life in his new surroundings.

The Brazilian has wasted little time integrating himself into his new club and revealed he’s taking the change of scenery in England in his stride.

“It’s great, really good, a really friendly club where I feel comfortable,” said Casemiro.

“I’ve been made to feel comfortable here from the first day. I’m really happy with my team-mates, they’re always helping me.

“The coaching team always explaining things clearly to me, I’m doing really well and am very happy.”

His fellow countryman, Antony, has already been pictured getting familiar with his new environment in Manchester.

Casemiro hails Antony coup

Casemiro hailed Antony’s arrival as a “really important” one. He also explained why he’s unlikely to be snapped out and about as much as Antony despite hearing only good things about his new city.

“I think it’s really important to have such a quality player here [as Antony] with us,” he explained. “I knew him from the national team already.

“He’d played with us in Brazil, it’s always important to have players of Antony’s level. Not just him, we have a lot of top-quality players.

“On the city, people tell me a lot about it, like where the best restaurants are. I’m someone who likes to stay at home and relax with my family, I’m doing really well and am very happy to be here.”

When will Casemiro’s time come?

The holding midfielder is yet to start a Premier League game for Manchester United having had to make do with three appearances from the bench so far.

He was given 90 minutes in the Europa League in the 1-0 defeat to Real Sociedad, however.

Erik ten Hag recently claimed he’ll utilise his squad fully as the fixture congestion beings to ramp up. However, he did stress those that play well will retain the shirt for as long as they keep performing.

That could mean Casemiro will continue to warm the bench in the league for a little while yet. A start against Sheriff Tiraspol on Thursday evening may suggest McTominay is still favoured in the league.
