Man Utd chase for world’s best player hurtles towards dramatic conclusion with exit confirmed but rival ‘agreement’ reached

The transfer saga surrounding Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe is coming to an end as a huge report claims an ‘agreement’ has been reached over his move, amid interest from Manchester United and Real Madrid.
Earlier this month, Mbappe revealed he would not activate the option to extend his PSG contract from 2024 to 2025. This means the Ligue 1 giants must either offer him a completely new deal with a big pay rise or sell him this summer. If PSG fail to do either of those things, then they could see arguably the best player in the world leave the French capital on a free transfer.
Man Utd have been backed to make an offer for Mbappe on several occasions. They are one of the few clubs in the world that have the global following to entice him as well as the finances to potentially afford his wages. Plus, the Red Devils can offer Mbappe Champions League football for next season, which is a competition he will always want to compete in.
However, Man Utd will have to fend off Real Madrid if they want to capture the France international. Mbappe has great love for Madrid, having idolised Cristiano Ronaldo during his time at the Bernabeu while growing up.
Mbappe also knows that by playing for Madrid he would have a great chance to win several Ballon d’Or awards throughout his career. Indeed, 12 of the last 13 winners of the trophy have either been playing for Madrid or Barcelona.
And it looks like Man Utd’s rather ambitious hunt to bring Mbappe to the Premier League could be coming to a big conclusion.

As per French source PSG Community, the attacker will definitely leave PSG this summer, rather than agree a new contract at the Parc des Princes.
And PSG chiefs have held a meeting with their Madrid counterparts to discuss Mbappe’s move to La Liga. The two European titans have reached a stunning agreement which will see the 24-year-old join Madrid for an initial €200million (£171m).

And the transfer could ultimately be worth a whopping €250m (£213m) if certain conditions are met. That includes the amount of games Mbappe plays for Madrid, the amount of trophies he wins and if he picks up a first Ballon d’Or.
The terms of Mbappe’s potential Madrid contract have not yet been revealed, although they could emerge in the next few weeks. It is likely Madrid will make him one of the best-paid players on the planet.
Madrid had been planning to sign Mbappe in 2024 as they were under the impression he would activate the option to extend his PSG terms until 2025.
But Mbappe publicly announcing the fact he would not extend his PSG contract has seen Madrid president Florentino Perez move in early.
Mbappe, who won the World Cup with France in 2018, will replace Madrid icon Karim Benzema. The 35-year-old has joined Saudi Arabian club Al Ittihad on a lucrative contract.
Man Utd will be frustrated about Mbappe joining Madrid as it is unlikely they will be able to prise him away from the Spanish club while he is still in his prime.
However, Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag does have other players in his sights to fill the void at centre-forward. Victor Osimhen is back on his radar after Napoli completed a U-turn and decided they would listen to offers for him. Atalanta star Rasmus Hojlund is another option.
