Man Utd one of four Prem clubs who could be left behind for €75m attacker if plan pays off

Four Premier League clubs are in contention for the transfer of French attacking midfielder Christopher Nkunku, claims a report that also sheds light on the plans of RB Leipzig.
Nkunku has been enjoying an extraordinary season in the Bundesliga from an attacking position. Previously a central midfielder, he is now thriving further up the pitch. Able to operate as winger or a number 10, he has scored 15 goals from 27 league appearances.
There have also been 11 assists, showing the variety of ways in which Nkunku can cause problems for opponents.
As a result, the former Paris Saint-Germain star has been attracting plenty of interest. A Premier League move would be possible due to the interest of four clubs.
According to ESPN, he is on the radars of Manchester United, Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal.
Man Utd interim manager Ralf Rangnick knows Nkunku from his previous career with the Red Bull group. When he becomes a consultant in the summer, he could advise the Red Devils to make a move for him.
Rivals City came up against him in the Champions League earlier this season. They too could firm up an interest after witnessing first-hand what he can do; a hat-trick against them certainly will have caught the attention.
Arsenal are long-term admirers, having tried to take him before he joined Leipzig. Liverpool, meanwhile, have also been put into contention recently as their attack continues to evolve.

Nkunku wanted by PSG and Manchester United

ESPN claim, though, that Leipzig want to open contract talks with Nkunku after the season ends.
Nkunku is under contract with them until 2024, so his value could start to deteriorate if they cannot get him to renew. But they hope to be able to tempt him to commit his future to them, rather than look elsewhere.
Their plan would be to talk him into staying for one more season, but they would want to renew his deal to protect his value after its conclusion. They hope their positive relationship with his agent Pini Zahavi can help their case.
Leipzig will listen to Nkunku offers of a certain price
If that doesn’t work, though, they may have to listen to offers this summer. Should any suitor stump up an amount above €75m (£63m), they will listen, the report claims.
Fearing that may price him out of a move – one admirer in Bayern Munich would struggle to pay it, for example – Nkunku reportedly hopes they will consider offers closer to €60m (£50.5m).
It is not just the four Premier League admirers that could look to pay it. Real Madrid are listed as a suitor, while Paris Saint-Germain are considering taking him back.
Whoever gets the 24-year-old will be landing a player of high pedigree. It is easy to see why Leipzig would want a large fee for their man – and for him to stay.
Only time will tell if he agrees with their contract plan, though.
