Cristiano Ronaldo future at Man Utd in jeopardy with Liverpool, Man City deals sparking player unrest

Cristiano Ronaldo is ‘worried’ about the state of Man Utd’s transfer window and a report has claimed he could push for a move away amid fears they’ve fallen even further behind.

The Premier League’s big hitters have wasted little time in making splashes in the summer window. Champions Man City have pulled off arguably the greatest coup, signing lethal marksman Erling Haaland.

Liverpool responded by potentially breaking their transfer record for Darwin Nunez. The Uruguayan’s arrival will offset Sadio Mane’s exit to Bayern and the Senegalese recently detailed why it was an easy decision to ditch the Reds.

Elsewhere, Tottenham have already signed three frontline players in Fraser Forster, Ivan Perisic and Yves Bissouma. Arsenal netted a new £30m midfielder yesterday in the form of Fabio Vieira.

In contrast, Man Utd are yet to bring a single addition through the door. That’s despite losing a significant chunk of senior players like Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic as free agents.

Frenkie de Jong remains United’s primary transfer target in midfield. However, progress on that deal is proving difficult to make and a move for centre-back Jurrien Timber was scuppered in part by Louis van Gaal.

As such, Spanish outlet AS report Ronaldo has growing concerns about what Manchester United will look like next season.

They state the passive nature of United’s window thus far has irked the Portuguese icon. Ronaldo is well aware time is against him at 37 and fears his days of lifting titles could be over if he remains at Old Trafford.

Haaland, Nunez arrivals have Ronaldo worried

It’s claimed he was determined to complete the final year of his United contract next season, even despite missing out on Champions League qualification.

However, the arrivals of Haaland and Nunez in particular have Ronaldo fearing United will be even further off the pace.

The article concludes Ronaldo’s future – as well as United’s season – could depend on who arrives through the front door in the coming weeks.

Who will Man Utd sign?

De Jong remains the No 1 target in midfield and Barcelona are reportedly holding out for around £73m. United have tabled bids so far, though are yet to match Barca’s asking price.

Elsewhere, Christian Eriksen has reportedly rejected the offer of a contract at Old Trafford. Another midfield option, Konrad Laimer, is now in Bayern Munich’s crosshairs. The Austrian shares the same agents as Sadio Mane.

Three of Erik ten Hag’s former stars at Ajax have been touted alongside potential moves to United. Centre-backs Jurrien Timber and Lisandro Martinez, along with winger Antony are all targets.

However, Timber’s international ambitions are expected to keep him in Amsterdam where he’ll be more assured of starts. What’s more, today’s Transfer Gossip claimed it could be one or the other from Antony and Martinez – who is also a target for Arsenal.

Between the sticks, Watford’s Daniel Bachmann is being lined up as a dependable back-up option to David de Gea. The Austrian would only be signed if Dean Henderson completes his loan switch to Nottingham Forest.
