Cristiano Ronaldo transfer: Jorge Mendes offers wantaway Man Utd striker to La Liga giants, setting up sensational return

Cristiano Ronaldo of Manchester United applauds the fans

Cristiano Ronaldo could secure a stunning move back to Spain amid claims Jorge Mendes has offered the Manchester United striker to a La Liga giant.

Ronaldo is gunning for a transfer away from Man Utd as soon as possible, setting up a January exit. He conducted an interview with Piers Morgan recently where he slammed senior club officials, Erik ten Hag, club legends such as Wayne Rooney and Gary Neville, plus Man Utd owners the Glazer family.

Ronaldo says Ten Hag hasn’t shown him any respect. This is why he refused to come on as a substitute against Tottenham before walking out of the stadium at full time. He thinks Ten Hag, along with a couple of the top brass at Man Utd, is trying to force him out.

The Red Devils are yet to make a final decision on Ronaldo’s future. But according to various sources, they are preparing to sack the Portuguese.

Man Utd will end Ronaldo’s contract seven months early without paying his remaining £16million wages. They can do this because Man Utd’s lawyers reportedly believe Ronaldo has breached the terms of his contract.

In the summer, when Ronaldo first tried to leave Man Utd, he was rejected by several teams including Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich.

Chelsea were linked with him then and are reportedly back in the mix for what would be a monumental signing.

And now Spanish newspaper Sport claim Real Madrid could complete a memorable reunion with the 37-year-old. They state Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has offered Ronaldo back to the reigning Champions League winners.

Cristiano Ronaldo tipped for huge Spain return

Of course, Ronaldo spent nine years at the Bernabeu, scoring an incredible 450 goals in 438 matches.

Normally, pundits and fans alike would immediately rule out the possibility of Ronaldo going back to Real. They would simply view it as a fanciful reunion.

However, Real boss Carlo Ancelotti may be in need of a new striker this winter. This is because talisman Karim Benzema has picked up a thigh injury. It will rule him out of the World Cup for France.

Ancelotti is also sweating over whether Benzema will be available for the La Liga matches once domestic football returns after the World Cup.

This makes a potential move for Ronaldo more likely than in the past.

Mendes is in initial talks with Real chiefs about the five-time Ballon d’Or winner going back to the Spanish capital.

However, even if Benzema is out for longer than just the World Cup, it is hard to see the transfer actually reaching completion.

Real have moved on from Ronaldo and will want to bring in a younger forward, rather than someone Ronaldo’s age.

Part of their project is still focused around Frenchman Kylian Mbappe. They were snubbed by him earlier this year but are still hoping to complete his signing from PSG.

Bringing in Ronaldo from Man Utd would leave no place for Mbappe in Ancelotti’s squad. It would also take up room on Real’s wage bill. Therefore, Real president Florentino Perez will probably reject the chance to capture Ronaldo for a second time.

Meanwhile, Ten Hag could be forced to admit defeat in the pursuit of a Netherlands international after he made a big admission about his future.
