Manchester United and Erik ten Hag handed more transfer woe as Denzel Dumfries move goes west

Denzel Dumfries Holland June 2022

Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries will snub a summer move to Manchester United, according to a report in Italy.

Dumfries, 26, is understood to be on Erik ten Hag’s wanted list at Old Trafford. The right-back is well known to Ten Hag from the defender’s time at PSV and Ten Hag is reportedly looking for an upgrade at right-back.

Calciomercato claimed last month his that Ten Hag had earmarked Dumfries to compete with Diogo Dalot at right-back.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Red Devils plan to keep Dalot, but Ten Hag is ready to sell Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

L’Interista have also reported that United are ready to push ahead with a deal for Dumfries.

But Manchester United look like being left disappointed with Calciomercato saying Dumfries will knockback a move to Old Trafford.

Dumfries “has no desire to leave” the San Siro and Simone Inzaghi wants him to stay also.

The Holland international, who impressed for Inter last season, is not deemed untransferable. But Inter value him at €35m and they would not be ready to let Dumfries leave so soon after Ivan Perisic.

Malacia medical

Bayern Munich and Chelsea have also been linked with Dumfries, who was a €12.5m signing last summer. Inter know they can make triple what they signed Dunfries for, but there is no intention to sell the player this summer.

In fact the report claims Dumfries’ chances of staying in Milan are “increasing”.

United have not made an approach and were most probably put off an official enquiry by the player’s representatives. The news will have come as a blow to Ten Hag.

The United boss has already had a number of knock backs. Jurrien Timber refused to make the move from Ajax and Frenkie de Jong has proved almost impossible to lure from Barcelona.

Ten Hag he is expected to wrap up his first United signing imminently.

Tyrell Malacia is understood to have had a medical at Manchester United ahead of his transfer from Feyenoord.

Personal terms have been agreed with the left-back, who will be costing a transfer fee of €15m (£12.9m) rising to €17m (£14.6m).

Malacia is poised to sign in time to be included for United’s re-season tour of Thailand and Australia.
