Erik ten Hag issues stern Man Utd response to Cristiano Ronaldo exit rumours; hints at Frenkie de Jong signing

Erik ten Hag has been speaking about the future of Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United and a possible move for Frenkie de Jong during a press conference.
Ronaldo has reportedly asked the club to sell him this summer. He wants to compete for major trophies during the latter part of his career and this is unlikely to happen at Old Trafford.
Chelsea are thought to be keeping tabs on his situation. Blues owner Todd Boehly is intrigued by the idea of signing Ronaldo and Neymar in one transfer window.
During Chelsea’s pre-season tour of the US, Thomas Tuchel was asked about a possible move for the Manchester United striker. And he refused to rule out the potential capture.
Ronaldo isn’t with the United squad for their pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia. The Portuguese is out due to family issues.
The Red Devils are due to play Liverpool in a friendly on Tuesday. Ahead of the match, Ten Hag was asked about Ronaldo’s future.
The Dutchman was defiant while assuring United fans that Ronaldo won’t be going anywhere.
“Cristiano Ronaldo is not for sale, he is in our plans – he’s not with us due to personal issues,” Ten Hag said (via Fabrizio Romano).
Ten Hag ‘planning’ for Cristiano Ronaldo to stay
“We are planning with Cristiano Ronaldo for this season, that’s it.”
Ten Hag added: “How to make Cristiano happy? I don’t know – I’m looking forward to working with him.
“I spoke with Cristiano Ronaldo before this issue came up. I had a good conversation with him.
“He hasn’t told me that he wants to leave… I have read. We want success together.”

Is Chelsea a good fit for Cristiano Ronaldo?
Cristiano Ronaldo is being linked with a move to Chelsea as he is looking for Manchester United exit.
The coach also spoke about possible moves for De Jong and Christian Eriksen.
United are in talks with Barcelona over De Jong’s signature, although the Spanish club are holding firm and don’t want to sell.
Eriksen, meanwhile, should be an easier signing as he is a free agent following the expiry of his Brentford contract.
Coach reacts to De Jong links
When asked about De Jong and Eriksen, Ten Hag hinted that a transfer is in the works as United are aiming to ‘add the right players’ to their squad.
“Eriksen and Frenkie de Jong deals? We want to add the right players. We’ve really good squad, we are working to develop our way of playing,” he said.
On the amount of players that could be brought in, Ten Hag continued: “We’re still looking for players in the midfield and in offence.”
Meanwhile, United midfielder Scott McTominay has been speaking about Ten Hag’s methods and how the team is working to improve.
