Erik ten Hag forced into imminent decision as 13-goal Man Utd flop is chased by European giants
Eredivisie champions Feyenoord are considering a summer move for Manchester United attacker Amad Diallo, according to reports.
The 20-year-old spent the 2022-23 season on loan at Sunderland and his fine performances have attracted interest from several European clubs.
Indeed, the Black Cats would love to take Diallo back for another loan spell. But, Feyenoord could now potentially scupper their plans.
During his time at the Stadium of Light, the youngster has made 37 appearances in the Championship. In the process, he has scored 13 goals and made three assists.
Diallo’s solid performances helped guide Sunderland towards the top of the table, qualifying for the playoffs on the final day of the season.
Now, as mentioned, several clubs have registered an interest in Diallo. With Feyenoord believed to be one of the teams leading the race.
Ferdinand: Diallo deserves another Man Utd opportunity
However, despite failing to make an impact at Man Utd in the past, Diallo could still potentially a role for them next term.
It’s no secret that Erik ten Hag is in the market for attacking reinforcements, so, he could give the youngster a second chance at Old Trafford.
On that prospect, Man Utd legend Rio Ferdinand said on his Vibe with Five show: “[Diallo] is an interesting one,”
“He has got talent there is no doubting that. You can see the talent he has got but you can see he wasn’t robust enough at the time.
“But that loan at Sunderland, he left that place a hero, an absolute god. He plays on the right hand side too, a problem position for us.”
“I know Antony has come in and done well but he is someone you can look at and say can he add something a bit different. I would like to see him given another opportunity.” Ferdinand continued.
“There is a bit of unfinished business and I don’t know if he’s not good enough, not right for Man Utd or he is [good enough] because I haven’t seen enough.”
Feyenoord reignite Diallo interest
But, Ten Hag will have to fend off growing interest in Diallo if he wants to utilise him in the first team next season.
Indeed, according to Dutch outlet 1908.nl, Feyenoord are considering making a move for the Man Utd attacker this summer.
Feyenoord won only their second Eredivisie title in 24 years this term under Arne Slot.
The report adds that Diallo came very close to signing for the Dutch club on loan in 2021, before he picked up a thigh injury that prevented the switch – but, their interest in the player has remained ever since.
It is unclear how much Feyenoord would need to pay to sign Diallo permanently this summer. However, Transfermarkt value him at approximately £13m.
With that in mind, the Man Utd younsgter is certainly a player to watch in the upcoming transfer market.
