Erik ten Hag target confirmed as Man Utd scout £40m World Cup star wanted by Chelsea, PSG

Mohammed Kudus Ghana 2022 TEAMtalk1

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Manchester United are interested in Ajax forward Mohammed Kudus but talks are yet to start.

The transfer window opens on January 1, with many Premier League clubs tipped to do business. Indeed, it may well turn out to be a busy month despite deals traditionally being tough to complete mid season. United are one club who are rumoured to be on the lookout for new faces.

The departure of Cristiano Ronaldo has seen the need for attacking reinforcements.

Marcus Rashford’s return to form has been a huge bonus but he needs help. And a number of names have been mentioned as possibilities.

PSV star Cody Gakpo is one such player said to be on the Red Devils’ radar.

With 13 goals to his name already this term, he certainly fits the profile of the type of player Erik ten Hag wants.

And Kudus has now been added to the list of possible targets. The 22-year-old attacking midfielder has bagged ten goals for the Amsterdam giants in 2022-2023.

And he proved he could do it at the highest level when starring for Ghana at the recent World Cup.

The former FC Nordsjaelland ace scored twice as the Africans beat South Korea 3-2 in their second group match.

However, it was not enough to see them advance to the last-16 of the Qatar showpiece.

Nevertheless, Kudos took his opportunity to prove his credentials. And United are not the only club to hold an interest in the star.

Merseyside duo Liverpool and Everton, along with Chelsea, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have all been mentioned as possible suitors.

Romano lifts lid on United’s Kudos pursuit

Manchester United will begin the second phase of the Premier League season in fifth spot.

A turbulent first part of the campaign saw them record eight victories from 14 games. But the Ronaldo saga overshadowed most of the good work done on the pitch.

The players can now focus on winning games and trying to force their way into the top four.

New recruits will help. It seems as though the north-west giants have had Kudos watched this season.

And Romano has now had his say on whether he will be seen at the Theatre of Dreams next year.

“I think, at the moment, it’s just an interest in the sense that they sent people to scout him and to follow him as they did with Goncalo Ramos,” he told GiveMeSport.

“So, at the moment, it’s not a negotiation with Ajax.”

Kudos price continues to rise

While Everton have been listed among his suitors, it is unlikely that the Toffees will land the youngster.

A report claimed the Goodison Park outfit made a deadline-day bid for the Accra-born ace last summer.

However, their £15m was rejected. And, with the way he has played for both club and country, any club wanting him in their ranks will have to fork out considerably more.

The Sun are suggesting that his value has soared to at least £40m. That would not be a problem for any of the aforementioned clubs.

Ajax are known as a selling club. But it might be tricky to land one of their main men this winter as they are currently among five challengers for the Eredivisie title.
