Hakim Ziyech: Erik ten Hag desperate to bring in Chelsea winger but faces trouble from within

Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag is reportedly keen on adding Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech to his squad this summer, but is facing issues from within Old Trafford to get a deal done.

Ten Hag is looking to make more additions to his Red Devils squad before the summer window shuts on September 1, with attacking options his number one priority.

United have been priced out of a deal for Ajax forward Antony, who Ten Hag wanted to be reunited with.

But a fresh report claims the Dutchman has now turned his attention to Stamford Bridge and Ziyech.

The Morocco international has fallen out of favour at Chelsea, with Thomas Tuchel happy to let him move on.

Ziyech, who has also been linked with AC Milan, excelled under Ten Hag in the Netherlands and is a creative force who could benefit United’s attack.

And, according to France Football journalist Nabil Djellit, Ten Hag is keen on getting a deal done. However, he faces a problem to get the player to Old Trafford.

Djellit said: “Erik Ten Hag wants to sign Hakim Ziyech at Manchester United. It is one of his priorities. But the Moroccan winger is not unanimous within the club.”

Ten Hag has eyes on other forward options

The Chelsea man is not the only forward on Ten Hag’s radar though. Red Bull Salzburg star Benjamin Sesko also a target.

The 19-year-old has emerged as one of the top young talents in European football in recent times. And he made his mark with Austrian outfit Salzburg last season.

Sesko spent the 2020/21 campaign on loan at Austrian second division side FC Liefering. But it was last term, back at Salzburg, where the youngster began to make headlines.

Despite only starting eight league games, largely due to injury, he notched 10 goals and seven assists in 36 games in all competitions.

And this season has started in equally impressive fashion, with Sesko being involved in three goals from three games.

That form has led to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano claiming that Chelsea had a meeting with the player last week, although United have had multiple discussions over the forward.
