MAN UTD WANT GONCALO INACIO

Manchester United lead Newcastle in the race for Sporting defender Goncalo Inacio due to their convincing transfer plan, according to a report.

The Red Devils have reportedly identified a new centre-back as a key priority for this summer’s market. While Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly are among the current options, incoming manager Erik ten Hag will have his own ideas.

The Ajax boss has indeed worked with exciting centre-backs at Ajax, namely Matthijs de Ligt and Perr Schuurs.

According to A Bola, United have now identified Sporting’s Portuguese talent Inacio as a summer target.

In fact, Man Utd reportedly lead Newcastle in the race for the Portugal Under-21 international.

Indeed, United plan to meet Inacio’s €45million (£38million) release clause They will offer €40milion (£34million) up front and then cover the rest through bonuses and add-ons.

Inacio only made his league debut for Sporting in October 2020 and has made 68 more outings since then.

After firmly establishing himself in the team as the last campaign went on, he has only missed two of the past 25 league games.

The centre-back only signed a new contract in April and those new terms run until 2026. However, Sporting are ready to accept his exit for the right price.

As well as a centre-back, Man Utd are reportedly after a new midfielder and striker this summer.
