Euro Paper Talk: Ten Hag plots double raid on Barcelona as Man Utd path clears for giant coup

Manchester United are increasingly hopeful of signing Frenkie de Jong and Ousmane Dembele from Barcelona, Antonio Conte wants two defenders for Tottenham, while Tuesday’s Euro Paper Talk has an update of Arsenal’s pursuit of Rafael Leao.

DE JONG TRANSFER CHANCE FOR TEN HAG

Barcelona are willing to sell Manchester United target Frenkie de Jong for £58m this summer, according to reports.

The Blaugrana are likely needing to wheel and deal this summer as coach Xavi looks to wrestle the title from Real Madrid’s grasp. Barca have enjoyed an excellent second half of the season under Xavi’s control and will look to build on that next season.

However, they will likely need to be savvy when it comes to the transfer market with finances still tight.

As such, they are reportedly willing to cash in on De Jong this summer to the tune of £58m.

The Dutchman reportedly features strongly on Manchester United’s wishlist as they look to strengthen their midfield.

And with De Jong well known to Erik ten Hag, whispers of a reunion are growing louder in Spain.

As per AS, Barcelona are looking to sign Carlos Soler from Valencia as his replacement. And while Valencia are denying claims an agreement has been reached, talks are reportedly ongoing over the transfer.

As such, Soler is expected to make the move once an agreement is found. Furthermore, he’s likely to partner Sergio Busquets and Franck Kessie in a new-look midfield next season.

And that will leave De Jong free to leave, with Bayern Munich also keen on his signature.

Man Utd also want Ousmane Dembele

Manchester United also remain hot on the trail for Ousmane Dembele.

The winger is finally finding the sort of form that Barcelona knew he was always capable of.

However, with his deal expiring this summer, talk of a free-transfer exit refuses to go away.

Now, according to El Chiringtuito’s Dario Montero, United are pushing ahead with their bid to land Dembele.

He claims United are offering a deal worth up to £12.5m a year, which equates to £240k a week, in a bid to persuade him to quit Barca.

The journalist says PSG are also in contact over the move. As such, Montero claims Barcelona are needing to act swiftly and with conviction if they are to tie the winger to a new deal.
