Euro Paper Talk: Rangnick to discard Man Utd quartet as talks for Colombian begin

Luis Diaz, Porto winger, warms up before game v Moreirense at Estádio do Dragao

Manchester United are laying the transfer groundwork for Luis Diaz – and also plan to ruthlessly sell off four stars, Newcastle are preparing a new offer for a Germany star, while Monday’s Euro Paper Talk claims Arsenal have a new big-money striker signing in their sights.

LUIS DIAZ PLANS ‘UNDERWAY’ FOR MAN UTD

Manchester United are starting the ‘transfer groundwork’ over a deal to bring Luis Diaz to Old Trafford.

The Colombian sensation has been in red-hot form this season, scoring 16 goals and weighing in with four assists from 24 appearances.

It’s that kind of form that has drawn him to the attention of a number of suitors, with Liverpool seemingly leading the charge.

However, Portuguese outlet O Jogo claims it is the Red Devils who are now leading the charge.

They claim United, alongside Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund, had officials in attendance to watch Diaz in action this weekend.

But it is United who appear most keen with the ‘transfer groundwork’ being done over a surprise swoop.

Whether that happens now or in the summer remains to be seen.

But it’s reported that Ralf Rangnick is an enormous fan of Diaz and wants him to play on the left of United’s attack.

Diaz has a £67m release clause in his contract if activated this month. That drops to nearer £45m in the summer, so there is an obvious benefit to them waiting.

Luis Diaz in, but four players to leave

To accommodate his huge transfer fee, though, Rangnick will reportedly ruthlessly sell off four players.

As per reports in Spain, the surprise duo of Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka will be allowed to leave this summer. It’s claimed the German is unconvinced by either player and says United are open to offers.

Wan-Bissaka has seen his place taken by Diogo Dalot. Maguire, meanwhile, has yet to show why, on a consistent basis, United forked out £80m for his services.

Furthermore, Anthony Martial will also depart this week. A move to Juventus looks on the cards, while Sevilla remain keen.

And the Red Devils could also look to cash in on Jadon Sancho after an underwhelming start to his United career.
