Euro Paper Talk: Man Utd join Bayern, PSG as £17m striker race begins to heat up

Sasa Kalajdzic, Stuttgart v FC Koln May 2022

Manchester United are eyeing a sought-after Bundesliga striker this summer, while West Ham and Villa are battling for a signing – all the latest Euro Paper Talk.

Manchester United have made their interest in Stuttgart striker Sasa Kalajdzic known, according to a report.

The Red Devils are preparing for a busy summer transfer window where a new striker is a key priority. Cristiano Ronaldo has impressed upon his return to Old Trafford, but at 37 his career is nearing its end.

Meanwhile, Edinson Cavani is leaving this summer when his contract expires. And even if he did stay on, the 35-year-old is in a similar position to Ronaldo.

As a result, incoming Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag wants a top new signing to bolster his ranks. According to Sky Germany, Stuttgart marksman Kalajdzic is on United’s radar ahead of the upcoming market.

The 24-year-old has impressed with 24 goals in 57 appearances since leaving his native Austria in the summer of 2019.

And despite missing most of this season due to a shoulder injury, Kalajdzic has come back into the team in style with six goals and two assists in 14 Bundesliga games.

However, Kalajdzic’s return to form has come at a key moment. He will have only one year left on his contract at the end of this season. As such, it is not only United who are eyeing a potential deal for the 13-cap Austria international.

While United have enquired about a move, he is also a target for Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich. Dortmund have lost Erling Haaland to Manchester City and signed Karim Adeyemi as a replacement – but could seek another signing.

PSG, meanwhile, are set to see Kylian Mbappe walk out at the end of his deal and need a new signing up front. Bayern could yet let Robert Lewandowski go.

As for Kalajdzic‘s fee, Sky Germany adds that he will be available for €20million (£17million).
