Euro Paper Talk: Erik ten Hag ‘expects’ Man Utd to complete £60m deal for new general; Leeds make £17m offer for pacy PSG striker

Erik ten Hag fully expects Manchester United transfer chiefs to finally seal Frenkie de Jong’s signing and kickstart the club’s summer business, while Thursday’s Euro Paper Talk claims that Leeds United are chasing a PSG forward.

Erik ten Hag reportedly ‘expects’ to be reunited with Frenkie de Jong next season and is fully confident that Manchester will pull off a deal for the Barcelona midfielder.

The Netherlands star is United’s No.1 target this summer, with other moves delayed as they try and land the Ajax ace.

A lack of incomings has so far frustrated the United faithful, with Gary Neville also revealing his own concerns.

But it appears that De Jong’s proposed arrival will then have a ripple effect, as United then turn to Ten Hag’s other targets.

De Jong made his breakthrough in Amsterdam under Ten Hag, with the pair having a close relationship.

While Barcelona are resigned to selling the midfielder in order to balance the books, nothing has yet been agreed.

United are thought to be confident that £60m is enough to lure the Catalan side into a sale. However, Barca are now pushing for more, while the player himself is not 100% sure about the move.

De Jong move pivotal to United summer business

That has not deterred Ten Hag, however, with the new Red Devils boss expecting a deal to be closed.

Manchester United manager expects Frenkie De Jong to complete move from Barcelona this summer, but why?

United are already known to have had a £52m offer knocked back, while Barcelona want closer to £72m. With that in mind, the two clubs could meet in the middle to finally agree £60m fee.

New Old Trafford transfer supremo Richard Arnold is concerned about paying for the odds for the player. Indeed, he refused to get involved in a bidding war with Liverpool for Darwin Nunez.

However, there’s a firm belief that the deal will eventually go through. In turn that will allow Ten Hag to add a pivotal new piece to his midfield engine room.
