Manchester United and Manchester City are ready to fight it out with Barcelona for a Bundesliga attacker, while Thursday’s Euro Paper Talk claims Real Madrid have moved ahead of both Liverpool and Chelsea in the race for a Napoli winger.
LEIPZIG STAR HUNTED BY BIG-NAME TRIO
Manchester United, Manchester City and Barcelona are all reportedly interested in signing RB Leipzig attacker Dani Olmo.
The 25-year-old has struggled to make an impact on the Bundesliga this season. However, missing several after a ruptured ligament injury has not helped.
Olmo is back fit again and starred in Leipzig’s 4-0 Champions League win over Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday evening.
That victory put the Bundesliga outfit into the last 16, although that may now deter Leipzig from selling.
The winger has scored twice and added four assists in 11 appearances so far this season.
Despite his return to form, reports from Spain suggest Leipzig could still move the player on next summer.
The Spain international, who is expected to feature for his country at the World Cup in Qatar, is currently contracted until 2024.
That contract stratus means Leipzig effectively have two windows to gain maximum value before his price drops.
Olmo value could rise after World Cup
Olmo is currently valued at around £34.5million (as per transfermarkt), although Leipzig would hope to recoup more.
The former Barcelona starlet is capable of playing on both wings or as a No.10 and arguably suits City’s style of play more than United’s.
However, Erik ten Hag is clearly adapting the style of play at Old Trafford and Olmo would be a useful addition to his squad.
The one major issue is the number of wingers already on United’s books.
Jadon Sancho and Antony appear to be first-choice, when fit. However, Marcus Rashford also operates well from the left flank and Anthony Elanga is another option for Ten Hag.
Youngsters Facundo Pellistri and Amad Diallo are also waiting in the wings, with the latter currently on loan at Sunderland.
