Europa League Draw: Man Utd handed ultimate test with record breakers and two former Red Devils awaiting

Europa League trophy

The Europa League draw handed Man Utd arguably the trickiest route possible to the showpiece final in Hungary on May 31.

Man Utd cruised into the quarter final stages after thumping Real Betis 5-1 on aggregate. Marcus Rashford scored in both legs, with his winner in the away leg on Thursday night bringing his goals tally for the season to 27.

The possibility of an all-English clash with Arsenal was a mouth-watering one. However, the Gunners didn’t live up to their end of the bargain when crashing out to Sporting Lisbon on penalties. Nonetheless, the quarter final draw still contained a series of heavyweight names.

Indeed, Juventus who boast former Man Utd stars Paul Pogba and Angel Di Maria, Jose Mourinho’s Roma and record-setting six-time Europa League winners Sevilla were all in the pot.

The route to the final was also mapped out, with Man Utd now knowing who they’ll need to oust if they’re to make it to the final in Budapest on May 31.
