Everton told offer is ‘coming soon’ for major Man Utd target who gives Ten Hag exactly what he needs

Everton pair Jordan Pickford and Conor Coady

Everton are expected to receive an offer for one of Frank Lampard’s top stars, who has been linked with Premier League rivals Manchester United, ‘soon’.

Recent rumours emerged of United’s interest in Toffees stopper Jordan Pickford, and transfer journalist Dean Jones claims that it’s only a matter of time before an actual bid comes in.

Jones states that the England international will soon have to contemplate his stay on Merseyside.

The 28-year-old moved to Goodison Park from Sunderland in 2017, since when he has firmly established himself as Gareth Southgate’s No.1.

But recent seasons have seen Everton massively underperform and led to Pickford questioning his future.

And, speaking GiveMeSport, Jones questions whether Erik ten Hag will want Pickford at Old Trafford.

He said: “Is he the type of goalkeeper that ten Hag ideally wants? We will have to wait and see. But I do think we’re entering a time when Everton probably will get an offer pretty soon.”

Despite the occasional high-profile blunder, Pickford has emerged as one of the Premier League’s top stoppers. And his ability with feet and his passing range make him a valuable asset in today’s game.

Those qualities are certainly something Pickford has over current United No.1 David de Gea.

The 31-year-old’s time in Manchester could be coming to a close now that Ten Hag is in charge.

Ten Hag wants ball-playing keeper on board

The Dutchman needs his keeper to be strong in possession and not a liability with his feet, an area De Gea has shown he is culpable in the past.

The Spaniard shipped six goals in the heavy defeat to Manchester City on Sunday, while he also let in four at Brentford earlier in the campaign.

And there is a growing feeling that this season could be his last. Although Everton will not let Pickford go on the cheap.

The stopper, who is under contract until the summer of 2024, is currently valued at around £30million.

However, by next summer that figure could have dropped – given that Pickford will only have a year left on his deal.

United are next in action on Thursday evening when they take on Omonia Nicosia in the Europa League. It’s then a showdown between Everton and United at Goodison on Sunday night.

That could be Pickford’s chance to show Ten Hag first hand just how good he is.
