Benjamin Sesko and Erling Haaland

Man Utd will rival Newcastle for Benjamin Sesko

TEAMtalk understands Manchester United remain interested in Benjamin Sesko despite his prospective move from RB Salzburg to RB Leipzig, though Newcastle United like the striker too.

Sesko has drawn comparisons with Erling Haaland after joining Salzburg at a young age and going on to score goals regularly for the Austrian side. So far this season he has managed 16 goals and three assists in 37 appearances across all competitions.

Sesko, who is only 19 years old, has already agreed his next move. In August last year Leipzig announced they had agreed a £55million deal with sister club Salzburg to sign the attacker.

Sesko has remained at Salzburg on loan this season ahead of joining Leipzig in the summer. However, the Slovenia international may swap Leipzig for the Premier League before even playing for the Bundesliga club.

Transfer insider Graeme Bailey has told TEAMtalk that Sesko is a player who fans must keep an eye on in the summer.

Man Utd remain in the picture for an astonishing hijack of Leipzig’s transfer, but Erik ten Hag’s side may face competition from Newcastle.

“Sesko is a huge, huge talent at just 19 – I have spoken to a number of scouts, and many clubs truly believe the ceiling for him is staggering,” Bailey said.

“Whilst not calling him the new Haaland, many believe that his level could become that – so don’t be surprised that if some Premier League clubs come calling, Leipzig could double their money without him even playing for them.

Man Utd have liked star ‘for more than 12 months’

“We know both Manchester United and Newcastle have liked him for more than 12 months, and both of those could be tempted.

“Man Utd are obviously in the market for a new number nine, but Newcastle too – there is a real chance I am hearing that Callum Wilson could be moved on this summer, leaving the earth clear for another forward.”

Meanwhile, Man Utd chief John Murtough has explained how Alejandro Garnacho earned his new five-year contract at Old Trafford.
